Advantages: Brilliant suction, Nice looking, Can see what your picking up

Disadvantages: Fiddly pipe, Can be too powerful, Expensive

I bought my Dyson about 2 months ago now after our little £30 goblin blew up and melted! We had moved into our first house and had only had the goblin for 3 months so my partner suggested going for a dyson and told me I could have one if thats what I really wanted.

Well was it what I really wanted? I thought they were over priced and you were paying for the name but we started to look at some and the sales lady.... well really sold it, call me a sucker but if something looks good I have to have it regardless of if it works! So anyway I thought lets give it a go if we dont like it we've got 30 days to bring it back.

I hoovered the spare room that evening, the room that we seldom go in and theres not a lot in there really and my god the clear cylinder was FULL with dust, cobwebs and fuzz. The amount of dirt it got out the first time I used it astounded me. My partner came up and even asked me if that was bits of the carpet or was it dust!

After that it still sucks up loads but not like the first time you use it. As you havent had that much suction before the dust is all in the carpet but as you use the Dyson every week there is not so much to pick up.

It is easy to empty, you can see exactly what you have hoovered up and if something goes up there by mistake its easy to reclaim. There are also no more bags to buy and fiddle with to fit.

It is really powerful dont try using it on one of those sheep skin rugs believe me I tried it! The pipe that comes out to get in corners, hoover your car and use the attachments is it's big downfall. It is really fiddly to get in and out and fit together. It is too long to use in your car it gets wedged against the ceiling as you try and hoover and it is too powerful to hoover mats they get stuck to it. I was also annoyed when I was attempting to hoover my car and it was that powerful it sucked the tape out of my tapes when I wasn't even that near to them they just went strai
ght up there into the cylinder.

Basically it is a brilliant upright cleaner and I cant fault it but when it comes to the pipe attachment it is fiddley and too powerful, worth the money, yes probably, no other hoover could get the carpet as clean and I can live with the downfalls for a spotless carpet.

A tip that might help. I found a problem with access when cleaning the car. In fact the clear flexible hose does come out of the more rigid silver hose. This gives you more length and flexibility. It does mean you have to carefully poke it back again, but worth it for this sort of job.
