If its power and suction you want then I can recommend THE ANIMAL.

Its hard to wax lyrical about a hoover but after several dodgy second hand monsters we decided to splash out on THE ANIMAL from Dyson and its been a joy… if hoovering can be such a thing. Please note I am not insane!

Having two cats, dog and two children we really wanted something that was going to pick up hairs, mud from football boots and sand from the beach after walking the dog. I bore you with the details merely because they serve as an everyday example of what this machine can handle with ease.

For those of you that are unaware, this machine does not have bags but a cylinder which collects the detritus of your home. This is advantageous in that it avoids all that searching for bags. Secondly its so easy to empty. Release a lever and the cylinder comes away from the machine. Release another and the base opens and out pops the dirt. No dirty bags to handle and spend a fortune on every month. I think it will pay for itself in bags alone!

We are constantly amazed at how efficient this machine is when collecting all the hairs. We purposefully bought THE ANIMAL as it has filters and is specifically designed to help those with pets. Importantly it has also reduced the severity of asthma of one of our children who was suffering from all the animals’ hair.

It is quite a heavy machine, so I would have reservations recommending it to those that struggle with large uprights.

It is feature packed with various tools for all those nooks and crannies, has a hose, which will extend allowing you to stand the hoover at the bottom of the stairs and reach the top. It can have a tendency to topple over if at full stretch but otherwise works fine. All the tools are at hand as they fit onto the main body of the machine.

What has really impressed us is the Dyson support service. We somehow managed to split the hose and so phoned the support line and asked for a new one. Well two days later it arrived, the operator talked us through the replacing of it, which was simple. Can’t emphasise and praise enough the efficiency of this service. Talking with friends they have had similar experiences.

Not much more I can add really except look out for some internet deals as we could have bought ours much cheaper that way had we not been so impatient.
