Advantages: Works for a while...

Disadvantages: But not for long

After 2 1/2 years and just spending £20 on a new hose our DCO7 animal's motor has blown up - Well it no longer works and is emitting a vile burning smell throught the house! The hose is very weak and broke within the first year. It is heavy, and bulky and dosent clean to the edges well. It gets easily clogged by long hair and looses suction quickly ....

Sadly I believe that I am not alone in these problems as I have heard many similar storeys... a great vacum cleaner for a while - but for the money I would hope it would last a little longer than just after the warranty expires. This is our second Dyson, and also our second dyson not to not survive the three year bracket.

...A highly disappointed EX-Dyson fan.

Summary: Highly inflated prices, good while it lasts but questionable reliability.

To be fair, I have had this dyson for over 5 years, & although it has needed repairs twice, Dyson do not rip you off for sending someone to fix it. Their fixed price fee is I think £55 guaranteed for 12 months. First problem on mine was the motor blew out just several months out of the initial warranty. I phone Dyson to arrange a repair, presuming I'd have to pay, but when the repairman fixed it there was no charge, as he said they are given flexibility with this. Second repair was the motor blown again, when it was 5 yrs old. I did pay the £55 charge this time, but I got almost a complete new machine as the repairman noticed some cracks in the body & other minor things, problably caused by me bashing it about a bit, so he virtually replaced everything on it! And to be honest I think I'm partly responsible for the motor problem as I'm too lazy to clean the filter often enough!
My only gripe is the extension hose - I use it a lot & it has needed replacing twice in 5 years when it has split, so I think Dyson should address the design here.
All in all though, it outperforms anything else I've ever had & the company seem to have quite fair charging practices.

Yeah, I don't think Dyson quite live up to the hype. We've only had a couple of minor problems with ours but the thing is so heavy I've had to buy a second vacuum to keep upstairs!

Hi and a warm welcome to dooyoo. Some fair info there in your first, well-written review, although a little short. I hope you enjoy the dooyoo experience, as I do. Ray
