When I bought my Dyson DC07 upright vacuum cleaner earlier this year it was to replace my Dyson DC07 full gear. There was no problem with my 2 year old Dyson, just my mam wanted it! I went to my local Currys store and was told that Dyson now offer a 5 year parts and labour warrenty instead of the old two year one, also that Currys can cover them for accidental damage for £1 a month direct debit. For a pound a month for a £180 cleaner I was very impressed!!
The machine came in a large bulky box and when the box was opened I found that this was because my new Dyson was preassembled at the factory. So as I added the tools to the handy holders pointed out in the manual I decided this was much better than assembling them myself as it is necessary to do with the vast majority of vacuums (Vax been one of the worst culprits.)
This machine has a HEPA filter to stop all the nasty bacteria in their track (great if you have allergies and asthma, I do) and a handy tool for the stairs and upholstery to pick up all the hair my beloved dog leaves behind.
Living in a zoo like state (fish, birds, dog etc.) I need a good suction power and I have found that with Dyson. Around 300 suction wattage, according to the label in the store, and a 1200 watt engine mean that it is also energy efficient.
A good feature is the bagless cylinder section can be removed and emptied but unlike the older models, the trigger is impossible to pull while actually taking the cylinder off the machine, so no more spills when emptying.
The 17 foot cord means that one end of the living room to the other is reachable. The stairs are also easier to manage with the length of cord and the nozzle section which is now removable from the hose and can be turned around to make it very easy on the back (not that I'm struggling but age will catch up to me eventually!)
The adjustable beater bar makes his suitable for all floor types, including laminate.
Even the after sales service is good with Dyson. They are usually out within two days, if not sooner and give the vacuum a good MOT while they are there. Spare parts are usually just sent in the post, again, usually within two days.
The only downside is the weight which accompanies all Dyson models, both cylinder and upright.
My opinion...buy it. A must have for pet owners. Indeed, even without pets this is a good buy... I would reccomend Dyson to anyone that can afford them and if you can't, I would say borrow your friends cleaner while you save up. Why settle for an inferior product that won't do the job or last the same length of time. Another hint, if you already have a Dyson and don't want to go to the expense of changing one that is in brilliant working order, buy the animal attatchment through Currys or Dyson. I don't know about other stores as I only use the Currys in my area.
Summary: This is a great vacuum cleaner, really effective and good value for money.
