Advantages: Easy to clean or unblock when i fill it with rubble
Disadvantages: None that I can think of, it's perfect for me
My husband and I were very lucky to be given one of these amazing dyson animal vaccum cleaners as an engagement present just over a year ago. We've had it for 13 months now and it's still going strong.
We don't have any pets in the family, however this model was chosen for us because of the increased suction compared to the other models and it's been a real benefit for us even without the pet hair.
Our house has been undergoing renevations and the dust created by removing plasterwork is incredible. Not a problem for this animal though, all that fine dust that killed my last vaccum? it got sucked right out of the carpet and into the easy-to-empty cylinder so I could take it straight outside to empty. The fine dust killed my old vaccum by clogging everything up but with this dyson when it slows a little I just wash the filter - really easy to do, just unclip it, remove the foam and wash it under the tap, when it's dry then pop it back in - and unclip the removable pipes to check for any little pebbles of rubble.
I also love the feature that allows me to turn off the brush bar, as it protects the laminate that I have in one room of my house, perfect to remove the dust before I mop!
The animal tool is great for the stairs, as I've said, I don't have any pets but this tool is fab because it contains a rotating brush bar (which can be turned off) so really gets the dirt out of the stairs, and does well at getting right to the edges. I never knew what I was missing when I just had a crevice tool to do the stairs with!
Even under all that regular abuse my dyson DC07 animal is still going strong and sucking all the dust out of my carpets!
Summary: Even after abusing it with plaster dust for over a year this animal keeps on going!

- 11/08/08 Great overall review here but it just lacks a little more info such as Noise, weight, use of the hose and carpet performance.
I ts ironic that really, before the title "pet hair" tool came along, people did use these turbo brushes for cleaning stairs.
Dyson however do warn against picking up DIY dust; it can affect the motor even though Dyson claim its sealed. |
