Advantages: YOU'VE GOT POWER, NO BAG, LOOKS PRETTY GOOD

Disadvantages: IS AN ANIMAL

Hello to everyone on Dooyoo, this is my first ever review, so here goes!!
If the DC07 were an animal I think it would have to be the elephant. It is big, loud and my God can it suck!

But I happen to quite like elephants. Despite their inability to climb up stairs, they can use their trunk to... Hang on, I?ll quit this rather tenuous analogy and try to tell you about the actual machine. The Dyson DC07 animal is the last in a long line of bagless hoovers which have made Mr James Dyson, the inventor, rather happy. It is packed with features which, if you keep reading you will discover, have rather technical names.

Now for a bit of history about MR "moneybags" Dyson. He shot to inventorial (is that a word?) stardom when he created the wheel barrow without a wheel, but instead with a big red ball. It was obvious from then that he was a little bit special. He then struggled to find a company who would support his new idea of a bagless hoover. What a ridiculous idea, they must have thought. Now, though, they are kicking themselves! A Japanese company embraced the idea, and so the Dyson anticyclone hoover was born.

This specific model, the DC07 animal comes (as you would expect for an elephant like machine) in a huge, and rather intimidating box. I had to revert to tipping it, and kicking it to get the thing out, but once it reluctantly emerged it was an impressive sight. The animal, as you can see from the little picture in the corner, looks like a futuristic purple spaceship with its cylinders, and winding parts.

Looks aside, how this Dyson achieves is the most important aspect. After using it on our rather old carpet I was both surprised and shocked. It seemed to have pulled up the most revolting filth you could imagine! Also there seemed to be quiet a lot of carpet in there, which I was quite concerned about as you can imagine. It has left the carpet clean though, with no bare patches (yet!) so I am happy. The ha
ndle of the DC07 is able to be pulled out, and it creates a "wand" which can be used to get into difficult places. Dyson claim that this wand, which is attached to a kind of hose, can stretch up to 6 times its own length. This, they claim is how you clean up stairs (the answer was there all along, just use the trunk!) There are different attachments which can be slotted onto the wand. There's a "poker", a long pointed one for cleaning in corners etc, and another which acts like a scaled down version of the whole hoover. These all click into their allocated positions in the hoover, which is a huge improvement on the old versions!

The DC07, once set up and everything, which is really quite simple is ideal for those of you with pets. I have found that the hairs get everywhere imaginable. The machine boasts an "air-powered brushbar", which removes pet hair by brushing hair and fibres out of carpet pile and upholstery and into the constant Dyson suction. So there you are. If your kids have got hair on their clothes, just line them up and whip out the DC07 animal! (That's a joke - I don't want to be taken to court because of this review!)

If you or the kids have allergies, again this is a good one to have. It is approved by the British Allergy Foundation as it picks up even the tinniest particles of filth. It is able to do this by using the continuous suck of the Root8cyclone technology! This is a complex map of air currents, which flow through the 8 cyclones (which can be seen on the photo) and give a much more intense suction than the average hoover. It is this that Dyson prides itself upon. And, I?ve got to give them credit, it is pretty good.

I found that having sucked up the tiny particles, and big chunks of carpet, the most annoying thing is trying to get them all into the bin. You have to push a button to remove the container of all of the dirt, and then when you are at the bin, you must pull a tr
igger to release a trap door, which in turn lets the dirt fall! It sounds like something off a film. The only problem here is that because the particles are so tiny, they tend to fly all over the place, anywhere but the bin! Despite this, it is always good fun pulling the trigger.

This is a really heavy machine, and for those of you with bad backs, it could be hell! You can forget about lifting this thing, so it is probably not the best hoover for you if you have a 3 story house. As I have already said, the wand can tackle the stairs, but if you've got plenty of them, I would not buy the animal. I quite like the feeling off having a bit of weight to push around, but I know that many will not.

The other problem is the noise it produces. It really does make a hell of a racket, so you can forget being able to watch the TV and have the Dyson on at the same time!

My favourite thing about the DC07 animal, is that you can "wave goodbye to the bag". No more bags to buy and fiddle with to try and get in the machine. The Dyson cuts down on all of this trouble.

For £250 (I know, that really hurt), is this really worth it? I'll leave you to be the judge of that, but I like it.

Thanks very much for reading this opinion, it's really appreciated!
