We had our old Dyson for 5 or 6 years, its still working fine but it was needed elsewhere, so we bought a new one for home. After the customary research I decided on the DC07 Animal.

The animal part of the name just refers to the special attachment for cleaning upholstery. It?s a nice little tool too, like a smaller version of the main machine. It has a rotating brush that is driven by the suction and it works very well. We have 2 Cats but our suite is leather so we keep em off that anyway, instead we use this tool on the stairs or in the places the main machine cannot reach.

Unfortunately there are quite a lot of places this cleaner cannot reach; under the bed, under the TV unit and only just getting under the cupboard doors to the kickboards. The main machine is a lot bigger and noisier than the old one. I see these as fairly minor problems though and they are easily outweighed by the advantages.

It?s very powerful and very versatile. We have both carpet and Amtico (a sort of vinyl/wood) flooring in the house and it does both without any changes to the machine. Most other cleaners I?ve used are a bit lacking on the shiny/vinyl/wood type floors. This one is truly excellent. Put a pea sized object (a pea perhaps) in its path and it seems to dive under it and disappear. Defiantly powerful.

Once full and this seems to happen very quickly, it is very easy to empty. Disconnect the container with one press, put it right into a bag and pull the lever. No dust no problem. Great for allergy sufferers.
