Advantages: Suction, easy to empty, versatile

Disadvantages: Overbalances too easily

This is the second Dyson I have owned and it does a great job. The suction is so strong that my carpet has been in danger of disappearing sometimes! The tools you can get with for it are much improved on the old ones. These fit much better and get into more places. The easy emptying facility is great. I don't get covered in dust any more. The suction means that more dust etc gets picked up and my allergy problem is greatly relieved. The washable filters are also a great idea but you have to remember to do it regularly every 3 months or so.

The biggest disadvantage with it is the balance, which is not good and it tends to tip over too easily. All uprights seem to be heavy and this is no exception but when buying it I knew the weight and decided I could cope. The light one doesn't do all I wanted it to so you have to make a choice between efficiency and weight. I have always found Dyson customer service to be good in the past so I hope this is still so. My first one only went wrong twice over 10 years and I ended up with an upgrade on the first occasion. The second time the service was prompt and dealt with in my home.
I can really recommend this as long as you don't want anything too light.
