Advantages: Strong, works very well.
Disadvantages: Sometimes difficult to control, to heavy
Bought as an upgrade to a dying DC04 for around £215 we thought this would be the vac to end all vac's.
If you've had a Dyson before you'll know how good they are. If you haven't then I would always recommend one over another make.
The DC07 is in no doubt a good Vac. Carpets you thought were clean aren't when you use one of these.
I have to say though I was a little disappointed. My previous Dyson was one of the carry ones, DC04. Small light and able. The DC07 is an upright with all the usual brush attachments. You get the standard Dyson extendable hose that stretches a good way up the stairs but just doesn't quite get there.
Whilst it is a good Vac I have one major problem with it. It's to heavy. Pushing it around the carpet as you do is not the easiest thing to do when your tiered. It is just that bit to heavy to make it easy to use in small corners. If your off up the stairs you get so far then you have to carry it to a point, making it near useless as you cant hold and use the extension at the same time.
The other question I would have to ask on the DC07 is quality. The main unit is strong and robust and seems to with stand the hardest hits in to the sofa leg. At the top of the handle there is a small cover which just isn't up to the job, this is where you add the attachments when you use the extension. I managed to knock ours on the door frame resulting in it staying open all the time and thus loss of suction.
Having said all that its still a good vac. It set the trend for the clear dirt collector which is obviously useful and very easy to empty when required.
The main filter is made of foam which saves on time and money as you can wash it rather than replace it every time. Replacements ar not the cheapest thing to buy so the wash option is always a bonus.
The other thing I have noticed is that it is very noisey. Noisy enough to get on your nerves when your in another room and the wife is using it elsewhere.
All in all I would probably buy another but not the upright just because of the weight.
Summary: Good alround VAC, needs to be a bit lighter.
