This morning I answered a knock at the door to discover a delivery driver with a large cardboard box. 'This is heavy, mate,' he said. 'What have you got in there?' 'That's my Dyson!' I replied.

And there it was. My brand new Dyson DC07 in silver and yellow. The packaging was rather large, but ths is because you don't really have to put much together. It is already done for you. You merely attach the hose and the 'wand' to the back, click the attachments into their holders, plug it in and away you go. Amazingly simple to use.

And how powerful! It was effortless hoovering, it really was. I had hoovered this morning with my old hoover, and had thought I had done a good job (naturally my wife explained this was because I'm a man!!). But the Dyson hoovered up an unbelievable amount of dirt just from one room. One of its redeeming features is that you can see what you have hoovered up due to a see-through bin, where your captured dirt and dust is on show for all to see. There was a lot from the one room. And even more by the time I had finished the rest of the house.

I was very impressed by the power and efficiency of the hoover, and for the duration of its first use, I can hardly fault it. It comes with the main body and the aforementioned hose and 'wand'. Also included are a stair tool, a brush tool and a crevice tool for cleaning different surfaces such as stairs and reaching hard to hoover places such as under sofas or in corners. Practical application of it as an all in one hoover means that you don't have to lug the main body behind you as you hoover. It is an all in one machine and as such the hose is within the hoover. The only disadvantage I have noticed thus far is that there is no retractable cable for the power. You need to wind it round the clips after each usage or leave the cable trailing or in a pile.

Emptying the bin couldn't be easier. At the mere push of a button, you can pull the see-through bin away from the rest of the machine to empty into a bag or bin(whichever you choose). Inside the bin there is a main dirt compartment and a smaller one for fine dirt, so you need to give it a few taps to ensure you've completely emptied it. You do need to clean it by hand every now and then, which is a disadvantage compared to a hoover with a bag which you just discard and replace, but this is a minor point.

The easy release buttons for altering the position of the hoover, attaching and detaching the hose and 'wand', and releasing the bin make the machine very accessible, which is a negative if you have children with wandering hands. But the advantages of this machine far outweigh the disadvantages.

Dyson hoovers do not come cheap. You pay for high quality. This Dyson costs £144.99 from amazon. Fingers crossed I will still be happy with it in a few weeks. As I have only recently received this product, I will try to edit this review should anything else become evident to me, so keep checking back for more info. Any updates will be added at the end.
