My partner and I had this vacuum given to us as a housewarming gift from her parents. At the time, having just moved into our first home together, we had little money spare after the legal charges of moving, so it was a welcome gift.

That was 4 years ago and I have had experience of Dyson vacuums before as my Mother had one of the first Dyson uprights, the DC01 for years and it was fantastic. I wish I could say the same of the DC08.

It is cumbersome as the hose is not stowable, which is a real pain.
It's storage tank is tiny and it needs emptying very regularly.

It's storage footprint is a joke compared to its physical size.

I would never have a cylinder vacuum again, as I cannot see the benefit of them.
They take up much more stoprage space than an upright, the DC08 is heavier than my Mothers old DC01 upright and the suction ability is rubbish by comparison.

Get and upright and avoid the cylinder models.

It's also made of cheap nasty plastic.
