Advantages: HEPA filter, Looks good, Works well
Disadvantages: A bit pricey, Otherwise none
I was looking for a new vacuum cleaner after 9 years of using my old and trusted Hoover. I had an old 'cylinder' style one, and have never used an 'upright' one before, as they seem to take up too much room. My Hoover hose snapped at the end, and ther was no way of fixing it, even though it was still working well, I decided I wanted a new one. So off I went to Comet to have a look around. I wanted a near 'top of the range' one, and Dyson was the only brand that stood out from the rest. The model I purchased was tne DC08 HEPA, as most of my familly seem to be allergic to dust, and sneezed whenever we used the old Hoover. The HEPA worls really well - it's supposed to clean out even the smallest particles, 'Including cigarette smoke'. I decided not to buy from Comet as the seemed too expensive, so I searched around on the internet and found vacuumcleanersdirect.com. The price for the HEPA model was around £200, but it's probably cheaper now. Comet had it on sale at the time for £269.99, so thats a saving of 70 pounds! The Dyson works very well, it picks up very small things, and is great because the bin is clear so you know when to empty it. I have never used a 'bagless' vacuum cleaner before, but this one is very easy - you unclip it at two points, then just empty it into a bag. I suppose I liked my old cleaner because you just threw the bag away, but the were expensive to buy and seemed to be full even after one room. It comes with many tools, the main one for the floor, a duster thing, a thin nozzle thing and a curtain atachment. The all work very well, but I tend to use the curtain attachment to do the stairs, because it is just basically a small version of the floor one. The hose is great - it is very easy to slide it up or down to make it shorter or longer, you just hold it and pull. The Dyson was very easy to set up, although I did need to use the manual - but it was very g
ood unlike some other manuals I have read in the past. It is just diagrams which are very easy to follow. The only thing that I would say is 'wrong' with the Dyson is that it seems quite hard to push forward. But it is still quite easy compared with my old Hoover. This vacuum cleaner is great - Looks good, does the job and has a filter which never nneds changing, but hust needs to be washed every 6 months. If you're looking for a great cylinder style cleaner, and have this sort of money to spend, then it has to be the Dyson DC08. There are also many accessories that you can buy on dyson.co.uk, and are all fairly cheap. Overall a great vacuum cleaner, and hopfully will last as long or even longer than my old Hoover.
