Dyson DC11 is a very powerful and a useful vacuum cleaner. I have been using it from the past 3 years without any problem. It's hard to write about this trying to explain about its part and functions but I'll try my best.

Price-
I bought this around 3 years back for approx £300 online. These days you can buy it for £250. Although I thought it was a bit expensive and there were other cheaper vacuum cleaners available in the market then, i needed something which was very powerful, works on all types of flooring and was bagless. This was the one which met all my expectations except the price but after i have started using it, the last thing that comes to my mind is its cost.

Other than these, there are various other attachments like car cleaning brushes, mattress tool, mini turbine head etc but I think what you get in the package is plenty and if used appropriately works magic.

Efficiency-
DC11 works on almost any floor surfaces- wood/ laminates, carpets or tiles. It has many attachments including the turbine head. Turbine head is an intelligent piece- it knows when it moves from hard floor to carpets- so it automatically adjusts itself. You can also manually put the brushbar off when it has to work on expensive/delicate rugs. The suction power is so powerful that it can pick up some bigger pieces of articles from the floor- this could turn out to be a disadvantage if you have the habit of throwing hairclips or jewellery items on floor!!!!lol. I know my DC11 has swallowed quite a few of my earrings and rubber bands.

The adjustable telescopic wand as the name suggests can be adjusted to different heights. This is the one that connects the turbine head to the hose. If drawn to its maximum height, I can clean the floors without bending and therefore not damaging my back. I can easily vacuum the lower 6-7 stairs with this from the ground floor itself without actually climbing the stairs.

Storage-
Telescope wrap system is one of the special features of DC11. Its hose and all brushes, including the turbine head can be neatly fixed to the vacuum cleaner and can be carried as one piece. This feature makes it very handy because I have a very small storage space but a lot of cleaning products in it! At a press of a button, the wire can be drawn into the machine- so you don't have to roll it around the vacuum cleaner itself! One disadvantge is that it is a bit heavy to carry around- or might be i am not too strong!! the whole machine including all tools is 9kg.

Cleaning and maintenance-
Since it has a plastic cylinder (1.8litres), it is very easy to empty it into the bin. You don't even have to touch it, juts press a button and hold it against the bin/ plastic bag, all the dust gets emptied. It is advisable that if you are allergic to dust or are asthmatic, then you hold the plastic bag close to the cylinder and empty it so no dust escapes from it. Believe me, it is very easy- not as complicated as my writing!!
All these parts are washable, so easy to maintain. Removing the hair off the brushes is a pain especially from the turbine head.
Since it is bagless, i dont have to replace the bags which means there are no additional expenses once bought.
It has a 5 years manufacturer's guarantee, so if there is any problem, they will repair or replace parts free of cost. Although I haven't had any problem until today, I don't have much clue about this but this is what it says on their guarantee statement. But i do know that the parts are expensive so whatever needs to be repaired try and get it done when its still under guarantee!

Recommendations-
I recommend DC11 if you are looking for something easy to store and cleans all kinds of floors with brilliance. I have bought a new irobot roomba (robot vacuum cleaner which I have reviewed earlier) but I still use my DC11 to clean corners or under washing machines or fridge and even sometimes on the ceilings to get rid of the spider webs. It is a great piece of machine.

Summary: Strongly recommended for dusty houses.
