Advantages: Easy to use, great suction

Disadvantages: Bit heavy/ bulky, can be noisy

Having been the proud owner of the original dyson model (the yellow one) when that gave up the ghost I decided it had been worth the money so I would buy another one. Being the proud owner of two indoor cats and being fed up of seeing clumps of cat hair blowing around my front room (which has laminate flooring) like tumble weed I decided I would invest in the Dyson DC14 Animal (the purple one).

I was immediately impressed with the amount of hair it picked up in relation to my old model, the suction has to admired! The hose can be a bit fiddily to work out at first but once you've cracked it you'll be whizzing round like a person possessed with the desire to clean!! The hose can be used in a few ways in conjunction with the appliances that are cleverly sored on the main body of the Dyson. You can use it with the long metal handle attached which makes it very easy to get under cuboards, sofas to get the dirt but also with the appliances attached directly to the hose which allows you to use it for dusting and is particularly good for doing the stairs. It is quite heavy and a little bulky, but I cant afford the gym so lugging it up and down stairs is good exercise, I have however dropped it quite a few times and to date it hasnt sustained any damage so I would certainly say it's of good quality. Another plus point is that it's very easy to empty and if you so desire you can wash the collection container restoring that new cleaner look. The filters need to be washed every six months which again is very easy to do, this ensures that the filtration remains as good as the day you bought it. Finally I must mention that its a little noisy, having owned a Dyson previously this isnt a problem for me but for anyone who is looking for a quiet cleaner this may not be for you.

All in all I have been impressed. It isnt the cheapest model (approx £230-£270) but in my opinion is certainly worth paying a bit extra for if you have friends of the furry variety!

Summary: Great for ensuring you house doesnt look like an extension of your animals!!
