A very high quality vacuum as you'd expect from Dyson, the DC19T2 Animal gives consistently excellent performance, and is great for getting into those hard to reach corners. Comes at a price, though.

Great vacuum by Dyson, pricey but worth it for the quality.

Having made it through my student days and most of my 20s with vacuum cleaners that were either available at the properties I rented or purchased by fellow housemates I have never actually paid much attention to how many different types of vacuums are out there.
I bought a Tesco upright vacuum as it was cheap and cheerful and did an ok job, but it broke after 2 years and I therefore did a little more research and ended up with the Dyson DC19T2. And i haven't looked back since.

This product can be purchased for around £200, which for a vacuum is a lot (The previous Tesco one cost me £30.) but I know so many people who recommended Dyson to me and there is a 5 year guarantee with it so worth spending a bit more I think. But definitely shop around to get a good deal and I'm sure you can knock some money off that price.

The vacuum itself looks quite space age in grey and purple and the cylinder technology design. I do like the "modern" look of it. It comes with a lead that's plenty long enough and moves around very easily on carpets and hard floors. I've never had it topple over when pulling it behind me. Very well designed.

It comes with a big and smaller head both with an integrated brush. The big head is great for a quick vacuum and the smaller one is great for corners and if you want to be a bit more thorough. The brush inside the head starts spinning when you switch the vacuum on and it picks up hair like nothing before. You will see all the hair in the brush and I often have to take the brush out to get the hair out but that's easily done. Both heads open easily to remove the brush, just get the hair out and put back together. I clear the hair out probably once every 2 vacuums. If it's small animal hair you are cleaning up then it probably won't get "clogged" so quickly but as I said I live with 2 others and we all have long hair. So I can imagine the vacuum being even more efficient with animal hair.
I also found that the brush heads have sometimes stopped working and don't spin, this is due to hair being trapped inside and almost burnt to a crisp. I have since made an effort keeping the heads clean and hair free and not had issues with them spinning since. Just make sure you look after your attachments and you will get a much longer life out of this product.

The container that collects all the dust sits on top and easily clips on and off and is easy to tip out into the bin. Keep doing this regularly too to keep your vacuum working to its best potential.

As for the boring statistics, these are courtesy of Argos.

      Multi cyclonic technology.
      250 air watts.
      HEPA filter.
      Length of hose 3.5m.
      Hose stretches up to 5m.
      Dust capacity 2 litres.
      Dustbag full indicator.
      Foot operated cord rewind.
      Adjustable floorhead.
      Includes combination tool/brush/stair stool.
      Plastic extension tubes.
      Suitable for all floor types.
      6.5m power cord.
      Size H44, W30, D36cm.
      Weight 8.06kg.
      Manufacturer's 5 year guarantee.

I would definitely recommend this vacuum to anyone whose floors get very hairy at times. I don't think my carpets have ever been this clean. As for Dyson in general, I think my next vacuum will definitely be coming from them as well, they are just so well built, robust and compact at the same time. It's worth spending a little extra for good quality.

I believe that it's an investment

---A slightly irrelevant but metaphorically relevant introduction---
The slightly psycho psychotherapist I'm seeing tends to see every event in my life as being a metaphor for something with deeper meaning. The trip on the 'looney-bin bus' is symbolic of the journey in my life (no, really it's just a bus), removing a spider from my house shows that I'm removing the spiders from my life, and well...it goes on. I've come to save up my metaphors and serve them up to her on a metaphorical plate. So much so that she feels that I am 'mocking' her. Mock I might, but she is actually scarily good at what she does, and I'm coming to see that these things do sometimes mean more than they initially seem.

Is this relevant? Er...well probably not. This is a consumer review after all. But bear with me...all will become clear.

        ---The metaphor of a vacuum---
Several years ago (could be 4 or 5) the then-hubby and I needed a new vacuum cleaner. I BEGGED for a Dyson. The then-hubby said "No Moosie, they are a waste of money". Despite it being me who did the majority of the cleaning (albeit a pretty sporadic affair) and thinking it was really unfair, I settled on a Morphy Richards vacuum (which I have since Googled and found that reviews gave it an average of 1 out of 5 stars - it figures), and the suction on it was good - for the first day at least. But it was all downhill from there. And vacuuming had become even more sporadic as every time I moved, the end fell off it...and it refused to pick up even one of my hairs.

With my redundancy coming up and with a new job to go to, I thought I'd treat myself to a new vacuum cleaner - I was going to wait until I actually got the redundancy money, but saw a special offer and went for it.

There's something quite liberating about being able to choose MY own vacuum cleaner...and there's probably some metaphorical meaning in throwing out the old one chosen by the ex which didn't work, and replacing it with one that I chose which does work.

On the other hand it could just mean that I no longer wanted to be on my hands and knees getting friction burns on my fingers as I attempted to hand pick my hair off the carpets.

        ---So, why the Dyson DC19T2?---
Do I have a pet? Well no, not in the cat or dog sense (although I do have a Basil plant which is currently thriving), but I like to see my hair as a bit of a pet. I really don't understand how I have so much on my head when there is (well, was prior to my Dyson) so much on the floor. It's not particularly long, but it's very thick. So my mind was made up, I needed a pet hair Dyson.

Ideally I'd have liked one which was pink, but failing that I thought that this one which has purple in would be the next best thing. Once I've made my mind up on something then that's that really. I did of course look at online reviews and found them highly favourable, plus most importantly (for me) I thought that it looked beautiful.

All of the specifications can be found on the Dyson website:
        www.dyson.co.uk/store/product.asp?product=DC19T2-ANIMAL

To quote the important bit, the "Dyson DC19T2 Animal is a cylinder vacuum cleaner for powerful all round pet hair removal. With a re-engineered floor tool to remove more dirt from carpets and hard floors." The reviews I've read have said that it's excellent for those with allergies, and of course those who have real-life pets.

        ---Buying from Comet---
This model retails at £279.99. However, I was on the Internet showing my parents which Dyson I was going to get when I saw that it was on the Comet website for £197.99. I was undecided, what with not really having the money yet, but thought it was too good an offer to miss.

I could've chosen to pay for delivery and have it guaranteed to be delivered on a morning of my choosing (or picking up in store which isn't so easy without a car), but I went for the free delivery and chose Wednesday.

        ---Wednesday morning---
I was up on the dot at 7am and preparing for the day ahead - envisaging being literally stuck in the living room until 6pm for fear of going to the toilet and not hearing the man from Parcel Force. I decided to not bother with a shower as:
        a) If I did I'd be in the shower when it was delivered
        b) I knew that I was going to end up filthy anyway, and aside from Mr Parcel Force man, I wouldn't be coming into contact with any living creature that day - other than my hair which is more like a dead pet really...

At 8:50am my Dyson arrived. Words cannot describe how excited I was. Well, actually they can, "I was excited".

The box was surprisingly light, and I could have carried it back from Comet really.

First things first, and I took a photo of the box, and then took a photo of the Dyson in the box, with a review in mind, and also wanting to let the Facebooking world know of my new arrival - my new housemate/house-elf Dobby (Harry Potter character for those not 'in the know')

        ---Setting up---
I took a deep breath. A colleague had told me that she had a bit of trouble with her Dyson as she was trying to put something in the wrong way round (20 minutes on the phone to find out that if she'd followed the instructions it would've been ok - she felt like a Class A Pratt - but I think we've all been there)

Determined to not make that mistake, I removed the Dyson from the box, and then opened the instruction manual. Instruction manuals are much better than men actually. Instruction manuals tell you how to do things because they KNOW how to do things. Men (I'm not deliberately being sexist, but I have my ex in mind) THINK they know how to do things, and are invariably WRONG.

I am THE most technically useless person. However, this Dyson is so simple that within 5 minutes (I did get a bit confused, but that is just me - the instructions couldn't be any clearer) I was vacuuming....sooner than planned actually as I didn't realise the extension lead which I'd plugged it into was plugged into the wall. Normally you press the red button to turn on and off, but I must have pressed it down whilst setting up.

        And the rest is history...

        ---Using Dobby---

        Suction:
The suction is AMAZING! Within seconds my hair was removed from my carpet and eaten by Dobby - hungry Dobby. I'm trying to be careful in this review, as I generally refer to the vacuuming of the floor as 'Hoovering'...but I think this would only be appropriate in a review of a Hoover. Dysoning....???

        Weight:
I'd read a review saying that this model is heavy and tough on the back to bend while cleaning...to be I feel this weighs exactly what a normal cylinder vacuum cleaner would weigh...the only reason I ached all over the following day was because getting Dobby make me clean the whole house. Dobby does NOT have a weight problem.

        The noise:
I HATE the noise of vacuums if other people are doing the vacuuming - I think it's a control thing, I don't mind noise if it's me in control of the noise. Although by far the majority of the reviews I'd read prior to purchase were extremely favourable, some had mentioned the noise level and a high-pitched screeching noise. However, I have to say that it is no nosier than my previous vacuum, if anything it has a more pleasant noise....that said it might just be that because I'm enjoying the vacuuming experience so much that I don't notice it! Dobby and I, we're in it together.

        The smell?
I'd read one review which mentioned the smell generated by this model. However, I think that what goes in comes out - if you're a smelly person then Dobby would smell. However I'm a nice smelling person, therefore Dobby smells of peaches and cream and other such lovely things.

        The Lead:
Like most vacuums the lead winds back into the machine when you press a button - this works sooooo much better than on my previous vacuum. I think that the length of the lead is pretty standard.

        ---My cleaning frenzy---

        The attachments:
In addition to the normal turbine head, there's a mini turbine head (which I'll admit I haven't used), and there are two tool attachments which fit nicely onto the main thing (took me a while to figure this out!). The brush attachment is fantastic for skirting boards and the like, the smaller head which is good for harder to reach places.

        I vacuumed my bed!
Dobby inspired me to lift up my mattress, and using the brush attachment, vacuumed the bed frame. And while I was there, thought 'what the hell' and turned the mattress.

        I cleaned the kitchen ceiling!
Does Dobby the Dyson clean kitchen ceilings? Er, well no. But once I'd got the cleaning bug there was no stopping me. My brother asked if gravity works the other way in my house, perhaps it does as the ceiling was filthy. As I almost fell off the step ladder when I slipped on the Dettol I have to admit feeling a lot safer knowing that I wasn't really alone now I have Dobby. Should the worst happen, surely Dobby would call the emergency services?

I stuck the wallpaper back in the dining room!
Due to my cleaning/tidying frenzy I came across some glue/paste stuff to stick wallpaper back on the wall. Since the wallpaper's been falling off for years I went at it like a woman crazed - I didn't think things through, and it's a complete mess (but better than it looked before)....but Dobby was egging me on...

I had the best night's sleep EVER!
Was this due to the Dyson? Well, perhaps a combination of sheer exhaustion and having turned the mattress for the first time in 6 years. But still, I can't help but thank Dobby.

        ---The next day---
As I filled in the form to send off for the 5 year warrantee (so no more vacuum reviews from me at least until 2016) I came across the instructions and that one should empty it when it reaches the 'Max' line. I duly went and checked and saw that indeed it was time to empty it.

I have to admit part of me was hoping that it would all go horribly wrong and that I'd then have to vacuum myself. But no, it was so simple and mess-free, and fine to do in my bedroom rather than having to take the whole thing outside to the wheelie bin as I did with my old one. Although I hated my old vacuum I did at least like that it was bag-less. I don't think I could be dealing with that hassle!

        ---And the next day---
Still aching from two days previously I decided to give cleaning a break for a bit. The other week I bought a charm to add to a bracelet, but seem to have lost it....I accused Dobby - terrible I know. I went through the black plastic sack I'd put Dobby's waste in...to no avail.

However, on my searches I did find that Dobby managed to successfully collect a large number of buttons and safety pins....well done Dobby! Should you manage to block the Dyson, for instance with a sock, the 'operating manual' will come to your rescue with easy instructions of how to sort it out.

        ---A few days later---
I'd saved doing the stairs for last as it's not the most fun of jobs, but Dobby coped well with them. I found in general that the more I tidied and cleaned the house, the more rubbish and dirt I generated. Knowing that Dobby was to hand made life much nicer - especially when I inadvertently emptied the paper shredder onto the floor, and the incident where the Thyme fell off the herb and spice rack in the kitchen.

I have just cleaned out the turbine head, my hair was quite attached to it, and I have to admit that it wasn't all that easy to remove the hair (a friend had warned me about this). But hopefully as I vacuum more regularly, this won't be an issue - it was mainly because I had years of hair on my carpet to remove!

        ---In 6 months time---
I have set a reminder on my phone to wash the filter in February 2012. I think that that will also be a good milestone to come back and add to or amend this review if necessary.

I KNOW that it's not ideal writing a product review so soon after purchasing the product. HOWEVER, the reviews I've read have all been favourable, so I'm confident that this review will stand the test of time - and well, if not it's under warrantee for 5 years!

        ---Concluding Remarks---
Sure this review has been slightly long-winded. However, £200 is a lot of money to spend on a vacuum cleaner.

But I believe that it's an investment - for at least 5 years of Mary-hair-free carpets, and a loving companion called Dobby who will be a companion far more affectionate and useful than my ex-husband was.

Since this is my 200th dooyoo review, on behalf of Dobby and myself I'd like to say thanks for reading!

A FABulous buy and worth investing in! I'll hopefully never be without a Dyson!!

Ohhh, I wouldn't be without my Dyson!! I've had it several years now, after having probably gone through hoovers previously at the rate of 5 per year! It's definately worth paying out the £200 I paid for this item, if you can save and dig deep. If this one ever does pack in and it's most certainly showing no signs so far, I'll be saving for another Dyson, thats for sure! Made to last, they definately are!

It just simply has such excellent cleaning power and suction! It picks up more dirt than any hoover i've had and is therefore more effective in cleaning your carpets and floors. It has two settings on the base, one for carpets and one for hard flooring, and it's easy to flick with your foot. If i've ever used this hoover infront of visitors, they have often commented on the strong suction and been most impressed with its ability to pick up.

This hoover comes with 3 hoover tools that clip onto the back of the hoover - all are fab attachements that make cleaning the stairs or really dusty items easier to clean. This dyson is bagless and you can clearly see the contents building up so know when it needs to be emptied. It's easy to empty because you just have to push a button and it lifts right out.

I don't think this hoover has any disadvantages! I think we've had it almost 4 years and it's going strong! Most impressed! Love it! Will be devastated if it packs in, but only because for me it was a pricey investment so will take a while to save up for again.

            worth every penny

We had our old vacuum for just over 5 years and so were in desperate need of a new one. I was a bit apprehensive about purchasing a new Dyson one due to its hefty price tag but it had been recommended to me by several people so i went ahead and purchased it and it was sure worth the price!
Compared to many other hoovers, the Dyson one has a sleek and modern look to e=it and is very appealing. It picks up even the littlest of dirt and i can honestly say that it no longer takes me twice as long to hoover a room than compared to the time it took with my old hoover.
It comes with extra attachable parts including a brush and a small thin part which is ideal when trying to get into small places. I think that the downfall to this product is its price and it does not come cheap.

            Disadvantages

The Dyson Animal is an amazing purchase and although expensive, worth all the pennies.

Having had the same hoover for the majority of life, I was in desperate need of a new one. I am not a person who can justify spending hundreds on house hold products, however I was told this one was worth every penny. I am glad of taking the advice of a friend because I would be lost with the Dyson Animal.

Another aspect of this hoover that appealed to me was the modern look which I find aesthetically pleasing, especially compared to my old run down hoover.

In terms of usage, I never knew you could hoover a spot once and the dirt was gone. It works like magic and cuts my hoovering time in half. The wheels attached to the main part of the hoover allow for ease of movement when hoovering making it a lot easier to get into all the hard spots.

Extra amendments that come with the hoover are a brush part, perfect for dust and a small thinner attachment. Both these can be slipped to the hoover itself, and therefore are always available when needed.

Price wise, the Dyson is not cheap in my eyes, but I think most people are aware of this before they decide to purchase. I defiantly think it is worth the pennies as it is a great time saver with its impressive rate at picking up dirt.

Brilliant vacum cleaner, well worth the money

Well after our old vacum cleaner died on us after a year, i decided i was going to buy a good qaulity branded one- i pretty much had my heart set on a Dyson from the off! After comparing prices online, i managed to find it at Dixons the cheapest for £169.99 with free delivery.

It took about five days to arive, and came in a pretty big box. It was fairly easy to put together- i didnt bother reading the instructions as it was pretty self explanatory.

When i first switched it on i was overwhelmed by how strong the suction was, it was that strong you can see the carpet slightly lifting. Dont worry though it doesnt rip them up, just raises them slightly if you lift it! It doesnt lose suction and picks up dust and dirt fantastic. It comes with an onboard tool caddy that others have rated to be pretty poor- i found it to be fine and attach perfectly to the pipe. You get a couple of tools with it, my favourite is the brush attachment- it brilliant for getting into corners and the dust on skirting boards. I tend to empty it after using it a couple of times- you simply click the dust bin of and empty the dirt away. The floor piece has differant buttons to press for differant types of flooring, handy if your changing from laminate or tile to carpet quickly. The only bit of effort needed for the Dyson is you need to clean the filter frequently, ideally at least every three months.

Also, a big bonus for any Dyson is that you get a great 5 year warranty with it- i registered mine online. It was easy to do and you can also browse to purchase new filters and additonal extras for your Dyson if need be.

              super sucking power

After 10 years of great service from my Henry Hoover (I know, shameful) I decided it was time I updated to a modern hoover. After much deliberating over many makes and models I settled on this little Animal. The Dyson DC19T2 appealed to me mainly because of its look. I am very set in my ways, and I didn't want a hoover that was radically different from the way my old one looked or moved. This seemed to fit the bill perfectly. It looks very tidy, with a telescopic tube, allowing it to be neatly attached to the main part. It has cyclone technology, which apparently means the hoover will never loose suction.

After multiple uses now, I have to say I am delighted that I spent my hard earned money on this little baby. It runs like a dirt sucking miracle. Its movement is wonderful, with an easy to manoeuvre handle, and the head of the hoover has two wheels, which makes it feel like its gliding along any surface. The main part of the hoover has two big round wheels, which means that if you need to turn it 180 degrees, you just need to pull it in that direction and it will raise and turn without any fear of it toppling onto its side (a common problem I had with Henry). It also has an automatic cable reel, so at a push of a button the cable is wound back in at perfect speed. I don't know why but I get a strange enjoyment out watching the cable automatically shoot back into the hoover. Perhaps its because of all the time wasted wrapping and unwrapping the wire around the Henry hoover, this time saving component causes great satisfaction.

This machine isn't the quietest, but then one expects hoovers to create a fair amount of noise. It has an aerated sound, almost like its purifying the air. Much more preferable to the typical drone of most other hoovers.
In terms of its cleaning ability, for me it gets up every single bit of dirt that it goes over. Furthermore ninety nine percent of the time, one movement over an area is enough to get up all the dirt. On very rare occasions does it require two movements. There are two extra cleaning heads that come with this hoover, that are neatly attached to the pipe. One of the components has a brush part on it, which makes it perfect for getting the dust off of skirting boards, upholstery and other scratchable or damageable surfaces. The other component is great for cleaning the stairs. Its nice and petite, allowing all the corners to be cleaned thoroughly.

All in all this Dyson is a perfect cleaning machine. It isn't exactly the cheapest, with the price ranging between £170-£210, depending on where you purchase it from, but in my opinion it is money well spent.

Ideal if your looking for a small, compact vaccuum cleaner and is really good at picking up dog hair as we have a malting black labrador. Even great at vacuuming cars too.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

Very good cleaner for most if not all surfaces.

In this review I will attempt to explain why this DC19T2 is aptly named "Animal" but I am quite puzzled as to the reasoning behind its nomenclature.

Dyson is probably the most recognised brand for vacum cleaners but funnily this is the only one I have used; I have never bought Dyson before.

It has a peculiar shape and look about it. It reminds me more of a scorpion with a stinger than some four legged land creature which Dyson probably tried to emulate (elephant perhaps).

                I will discuss the following:

                *MOVEMENT
                *NOISE
                *CLEANING
                *FEATURES & FINAL SAY

                Movement
                =======
To begin with the dyson has two wheels and what I can only describe as an odd shaped balance behind it. It rolls over most surfaces (carpet, wood, laminate) very smoothly. The handle is at a reasonable height even for short people and it can also be adjusted should you find it a little on the short side. It is easy on your back because of the angles at which it can operate.

                Noise
                ====
Compared to other cleners I have used, its surprisngly less noisy (or perhaps more appropriately, much quieter). It doesn't sound like you have a 4 litre land rover in your drawing room. The sound it makes is a more of a gentle humm and a whirr, not a buzzy chainsaw like other vacum cleaners.

                Cleaning
                ======

It cleans brilliantly. Things like fur, hair and other nonsense that have clinging tendencies come off straight away and seldom do you need to go over an area more than once to clean it. Perfect if you have a pet actually; although I don't but my neighbours pet is such a pestering animal.

                Features & Final Say
                ===============

Not much to talk about in terms of features other than what was covered with the way it works. However, you do get the usual facade of stair cleaner and brush, but more surprisingly, the filter is washable; a boon for those with dust allergies.

Overall I think this is a very nice vacum cleaner. What I like about it most is the way it operates and doesn't make too much noise. So it actually makes vacuming pleasurable rather than a chore.

The Dyson cleans your home to perfection!

How much are you willing to spend on your vacum cleaner? If the answer is anywhere close to about 199.99, the Dyson DC19T2 Animal might be a good purchase for you! It does indeed look like something that rolled in from the future, but the futuristic and modern look still means that the product does a very good job in cleaning your home, which after all is what`s most important!

One of the first things I noticed after having opened the package it came in and gotten to know it a bit, was that it`s a bit tricky to store it, like throw it into a broom closet and stuff like that.... The vacum cleaner has an odd shape and isn`t that much practical, therefore the issue of storage became the biggest problem, which I guess isn`t the biggest of disadvantages around...

As with most vacum cleaners, this product also comes with a fair bit of sound, however it`s by far the most silent I`ve ever owned, not more bothering to me than the noise of an hair dryer... On top of this, I find this "Animal" very easy to clean and maintain, as you simply click on a button and the dust bag removes itself and you can throw out the dust where it suits you best... I would say that if someone in your family suffers from allergy, this isn`t a job for them!

I`m no professional vacum cleaner professor, however I`m absolutely impressed by the quality of the cleaning itself, as this Dyson always leaves my floors, furniture and carpets very clean, you can with your own eye see a very noticable difference before and after using this device, and you can also tell by the dust bag that it does a good job inhaling everything from dust to sand, sugar in the kitchen to hair in the bathroom... Now, the extention cord is one of those minor minuses I have to mention, as I have found it to be a bit short at times, I would have prefer it to be about fifty centimeters longer...

All in all this vacum cleaner from Dyson does a very good job cleaning your home, and all though the cost of it might scare you a bit, I assure you it`s worth it!

                An excellent cleaner from Dyson

                ~*~ Dyson DC19T2 ~*~

I'm a bit of a bargain hunter, and hate spending more than is necessary on boring products such as irons, washing machines and, yes, vacuum cleaners. I'd much rather spend the money on a nice pair of Choo's (I wish!) or, to be more honest, a dress from Topshop. So, when my partner suggested investing in a Dyson when our poor little hoover packed up, I was not very enthusiastic, to say the least.

I've had a Dyson before, an upright version and yes, it was a good vacuum cleaner, but I can't remember it being so amazing that it was worth the amount of money spent on it. However, my other half persisted and we ended up spending over £200 on the DC19T2 'Animal'. On a vacuum cleaner?! Humph.

                ~*~ It's appearance ~*~

I must say, on opening the box, I was very impressed with the Dyson's appearance. It just has a clean look about it which I love and is very well made and sleek. This model consists of a small cylinder which is the main body, and the pipe attaches to a clip on the back which makes it look a lot more compact. This is probably my favourite thing about this model. It definitely looks a lot more up-to-date than the upright versions, and is good if you haven't got much space to spare as well.

~*~ The boring bit (Ok, the specifications) ~*~

280 AW (Air watts) suction power - doesn't mean a whole lot to me, but to give you an example, if you hold the hoover on say a door mat it can be extremely hard to get off. I wouldn't want to accidentally go near my hamster with it turned on, put it that way.

Cleaner head - dual mode floor tool. This makes it ideal for using on different surfaces - carpet and wooden floors. This is perfect for me as I have all wooden floors downstairs and carpet upstairs.

Bin capacity - 2 litres. This is quite a lot. I love the fact with Dyson's that you get to see how much you have picked up. My dog sheds so much that I can hoover on a daily basis and probably still get a full cylinder the next day. Which is not so good if you have to leave it for a couple of days! The cylinder is extremely easy to remove and to clean, simply pop it off, empty it in the bin and start again. My favourite thing about having a Dyson, I absolutely hate changing bags in other vacuum cleaners and all the problems that go with them!

Accessories - Stair tool and combination tool. These are just there to make your life a little bit easier and to get into those harder to reach places. A good little extra.

Weight - Approx 8kg. A good weight for me, I find it very easy to carry up and downstairs, something I've previously had difficulty with, with other cleaners.

                ~*~ The price ~*~

Currently on sale from the Dyson website for £219.00. This includes free delivery and a 5 year guarantee which is very impressive. If you purchase this model from the Dyson website, there is currently a special offer running in which you get a free car cleaning kit worth £50.00 with your purchase. So if you are looking to buy, now is a good time! Dixons, however are currently selling the same product for just over £170, which is quite a significant saving (they also offer free delivery). As always, its worth shopping around to ensure you get the best possible buy.

                ~*~ My opinion... ~*~

As you can probably tell from this review, I was initially extremely reluctant to purchase this Dyson. However, I have been so impressed with it's performance that I am now actually really glad that I took the plunge. The cleaner is so good at getting into those hard to reach places and it makes cleaning up after my nightmare of a dog (love her really) so easy. This little Dyson is very light and compact, and it's size makes it ideal for doing the stairs. It is small enough to just sit on a step, so you dont have to attempt to do any strange manouvers in which you are balancing the cleaner on one arm whilst vacuuming with the other - slightly dangerous!

As far as noise goes, I'd say this is pretty average, maybe edging slightly towards the quieter side but I may be saying that due to the absolute beast of a vacuum cleaner I owned before this one!

Overall, I have been very impressed with the performance of this cleaner and would definitely reccommend it to those about to purchase a Dyson. If you can bear sacrifcing a few shopping trips that is.

                Enjoy!

                  • Reliability

                  Disadvantages

                  Overall it's a great deal

Dyson DC19T2 Animal vacuum cleaner is perfectly engineered with the combination of latest technologies. It is very efficient, light weight and made up of tough polycarbonate based engineering plastic so it can also withstand rough handling. The innovative root cyclone cleaning technology separates the dust only from the air so it keeps home atmosphere dust free and safe. Additionally this product is equipped with anti bacteria filter for cleaner expelled air which gives you safe breathable air. If the attachments are considered then the mini turbine head attachment is very effective against confined hair and dust particles it removes all type dust from confined places like mattress, sofa and pillows. The 6.5 meters cord makes it reachable to distant areas so that you can clean even your outdoors when there is no extra electric point available outside. Considering the suction power of 280 air watts it weighs only 7.98 kg so it is quit lite in comparison to other products.

Finally I would say it is the ultimate product perfectly innovated and dedicated for 100% cleaning of any size of home. That's why I want to give it 5/5.

Fantastic Product, well worth the money.

I had never owned a dyson before and when my hoover broke at christmas time last year my friend recommended i purchase the Dyson animal. It is the best thing that i have ever bought. The suction is brilliant and the detatchable parts mean you can get into the tightest of corners and awkward places. I is very easy to manouver and lightweight which enables me to carry it up the stairs with ease. The first time i used it you could tell from my brighter carpets that the suction had got deep down into the fibres and removed everything.
The bagless system enables you to unclip the barrell where the dust goes and pour it straight into the bin. The filters are removable and very easy to clean and last a long time. I have yet to change mine. I also have a dog and now hairs in my carpet are a thing of the ast. I really recommend this product.

                    Absolutely excellent, 10/10

In our house we've long put off using a Dyson - "it's a gimmick, it won't work as well as they say it will"... well let me be the first to tell you that yes it most definitely will!

The loss of the bag in this hoover is the best thing since sliced bread - it improves suction tenfold, and it's so so easy to clean out once it's up to its (considerable) capacity. Even though it's a large unit, it's very manoeveurable in the tight spaces around your rooms, and it doesn't lose any suction at all once you use the extenda-head for those hard-to-reach places.

Overall, my opinion of Dyson hoovers have changed massively since I bought this product - from what I thought was a simple, pointless gimmick, I now realise is a stunning piece of design genius - every home should have one of these. Right now.

A superb hoover that will last the test of time

We recently purchased this hoover, after our last hoover (a Dyson we had for almost 10 years) finally packed up. Considering the length of time we had our previous dyson, and the excellent cleaning power it had there was no other choice when it came to the brand of hoover we would buy again.

We decided to keep with a cylinder hoover, as my Mum has the strong belief that there is a bigger suction vent, therefore it picks up more dirt and makes for a more effective clean of your carpets. After using an upright hoover at uni, I would have to agree however they are not as easy to store away as uprights.

I noticed the design of the DC19T2 had varied alot from our previous model. Firstly, it was pink! Secondly, the on/off button is marked with a red button, separate to the uncord switch which in the previous model I sometimes would hit the wrong one, giving me the fright of my life when it suddenly turned itself on again!

Gone is the fold-down lid with all your tools/hoover accessories. Instead, all the attachments clip onto the back of the hoover which so far hasn't caused us any problems and makes for a smaller hoover.

One dislike I have with this hoover, is the fact that the hose is only partially flexible, as it contains a solid plastic coating from the handle until about halfway down. I'm not sure why they did this, other than for storage perhaps, as it's quite annoying when your trying to go around corners, or when transporting the hoover through a door. I also find you need to extent the cord a little more because of this.

In terms of the noise factor, I would say this hoover is fairly average. It's not a quiet hum, nor is it a motorbike engine. As with many of the Dyson hoovers, it is also bagless and you can see the contents clearly so you know how much you have picked up and when it needs emptying. The hoover is also really easy to empty, and requires a press of a button and then it should lift right out. Although I must admit I tend to leave this job up to my Mum on most occasions!

Perhaps most importantly, the performance of this hoover is really impressive. As a design student I'm usually cutting and sticking alot, therefore making mess wherever I go and so a hoover such as this is superb at picking up even the smallest of speckles out of my carpet. It leaves our carpets and floors looking clean, and there is always a very noticeable difference before and after use.

At around £200, it certainly is a pricey investment. However for the sake of dust mite reduction and the really effective cleaning properties this hoover has, it's a worthy investment for your home. I know we will certainly continue to buy Dyson in the future as it's never let us down before. With a 10 year life span to look forward to, this equates to £20 a year on a really outstanding hoover, and one me and my Mum would recommend!
