I have two Brussels Griffons who tend to cast a fair amount of hair which gets pretty frustrating at times when trying to keep the place clean and tidy. So I was recommended this Vacuum cleaner by a friend who told me that it had attachments specifically used to pick up pet hair.
I bought this for £300 from Argos. When I got home and had unpacked it, I set to firstly vacuuming all the floors throughout the house. Then I used the mini turbine to vacuum the couch and their bed and any other place that they tended to go for a sleep. Finally I used the wand attachment to get into all the nooks. When I had finished, I could have made another dog from the hair it had collected. This vacuum misses nothing at all. It is a very powerful and easy to use vacuum from dyson and I COULDN'T RECOMMEND IT HIGHLY ENOUGH.
It also has settings for carpet or hardwood floors which is really handy for me.
After spending ten years with a stubborn hoover, this new one did take some getting used to. It was a rather heavy object, and at first I hated it. I didnt like the new ball technology, and I couldnt get it to turn corners. However, each time I use it I learn to appreciate it more. Corners are made easy to clean as it can turn easily (once you get the hang of it!) and it cleans right to the edge. It does sound a bit like a machien gun whilst it hovers, particularly when you "flatten" it slightly. The handheld function is brilliant, the suction is very strong and it is easy to use, especially when you get used to it. My main critisism is the weight, however it is worth it for the fantastic ball technology. Overall, I am very please with this vacuum, and already feel myself joining an age of new hoovers.
i brought the Dyson DC24 as an upgrade from our VAX that was loosing its suction. we decided to go for a Dyson although much more expensive than other vacuums that i researched i felt that dyson have such a good reputation and from others i have spoken too last a long time compared to some vacuums. i had read some negative reviews about this Dyson but decided to go ahead anyone as there were alot of good reviews that controdicted them. i brought this off of Amazon for £226 which was slightly cheaper than some other sites such as currys. we decided on the DC24 as it says it was suitable for pets, so felt it would be the best vacuum to suck up all the pet hair easily. The size of this vacuum is just right, it is lighter than most vacuums making it easy to lift up stairs and in and out of the cupboard. i am only 5 foot so the size is perfect for me as it is not very chunky or clumbersome.
The dust container is quite small so if you have a large house you made need to empty it every time you hoover or possibly in between a hoover. however our house is a new build modern house so quite compact and we can go 2-3 times before having to empty. The length of the cable i feel is a good size, not too much that you get all tangled up in it whilst hoovering but enough to reach across large rooms.
i think the new ball technology is brilliant, it makes it extremley smooth to control the hoover and turn corners with ease instead of having to reverse to get where you need to go. it also makes it smother and easier acorss carpets and going up onto a rug or mat, it doesnt get stuck like a normal 4 wheeled vacuum. it just glides acorss the floor with no effort at all. the tools supplied with it are also good, however we did also buy the accessory pack which had more attachments as there was not a long thin gadget supplied to get down the sides of the fridge or to stretch up the stairs. but it would depend on if you use the accessories alot if you do i deffinatley recommend buying the accesory pack however if you really just use the hoover you could probably put up with the tools that are supplied with the hoover.
overall this is a great little hoover, picks up very well, glides smoothly and looks fantastic and modern.
When we moved into our new house it had been empty for 18 months and the previous owner had had a lot of cats and...well...a fairly "relaxed" approach to vacuuming.
Within a few days the carpets had defeated the vacuum cleaner and we found ourselves in the market for a new one. We ended up ripping up every carpet in the house but that's another story...
The unit itself is typical Dyson - it looks good, isn't too large and manages to look discrete. I really like the fact that nothing seems hidden on a Dyson too. You get the impression that everything it does is easy to look at or get to.
Our house has four different floor surfaces and across all this works a treat - carpet, wooden flooring, tiles and laminate. Absolutely no complaints about the power of ease of use and the detatchable vacuum hose makes even the most inaccessible corners easy to get clean. The see-through dust collector shows how much is being picked up, much of it you wouldn't ever know was there before you vacuumed.
Being bagless it's easy to empty (and to see when it's full) and as with other Dyson's I've owned you can easily take it apart to clear any blockages. I see no reason why this won't last for years, particularly given the apparent easy availability of replacement parts (and how easy it is to fit them yourself).
