I was so tired of lugging my old upright vacuum cleaner around and having to risk breaking my neck when hoovering up or down the stairs that when it final gave up the ghost I said a little prayer of thanks and ordered myself a brand new Dyson. The Dyson City DC26, multi-floor, ultra lightweight bagless cylinder cleaner was £180 on Amazon and I was beside myself with excitement when the courier delivered it a few days later. My excitement quickly turned to scepticism, however, when I clocked how small the box was. Discarding all the packaging inside I was shocked to find that the body of the cleaner, which housed the motor, wheels and dust cylinder was tiny. In fact it is small enough to sit on a sheet of A4 paper! Attached to this miniscule piece of engineering was a hose and an adjustable cleaning head which appeared to be quite flimsy in design. I sulked for a bit, muttering about how on earth this tiny vacuum cleaner was going to be able to cope with the amount of mess three kids and a moulting dog make on a daily basis, before having a sharp word with myself, plugging it in and putting it through its paces. I should have had more faith in Dyson. They have made a fantastic little machine. Not only does it look good, the unit is dark grey with the motor being a brilliant metallic colbalt blue, but it performs brilliantly on all surfaces. I have carpets of varying pile types upstairs, quarry tiles in the bathroom and a mixture of cushioned lino and rugs downstairs which the cleaning head coped with really well. It is, in fact, not flimsy at all, as I initially thought but has proven to be sturdy and useful, being flat enough to fit under most of the furniture in my house and the swivel joint which attaches it to the hose makes it possible to get all the way underneath the sofas, which is a real bonus. I'm of average height and the handle is just right at its longest length, so it may be a problem if you are very tall. There is a handy quick release trigger at the top of the handle which immediately stops the suction if you accidentally hoover up something you didn't mean to. This is a great feature and other hoover manufacturers should take note. It is no joke trying to retrieve a sock from a bag full of dirt! The handle itself is chunky and it is easy to guide the cleaning head around the room without hurting your wrists. There is a slot in the body of the hoover where the handle can be attached for easy storage and as you can imagine being so compact it takes up very little room. Stairs are a breeze with this little beauty. It is small enough to sit comfortably on each stair and the cord is just long enough that I can do all the way down with the machine still plugged in upstairs. The handle can be shortened to make it easier and the stair cleaning head has sharp, straight edges so that you can get right into the corners of each stair. It deals with dust and dog hair easily and is a million miles away from the back breaking experiences I had with my old upright. Along with the stair attachment there is also a long thin head with an optional brush for getting into narrow spaces and sucking up cobwebs. These sit in a holder which attaches to the main handle so you always have them to hand. Now for the downsides. Just a few little niggles. As you can imagine the dust cylinder is very small so it has to be emptied every time I hoover, however, this is very easy to do. You just unclip the unit from the base and by pressing a button the contents are released without you even getting your hands dirty. Easy. The cord rewind button is very feeble and has got more lethargic with each use. I now have to manually push the cable into the housing to help it along. Having said that, it does save you from getting whiplash from a flying plug when the cord is sucked in at great speed! And lastly, the two filters have to be removed and washed once a month. They then have to air dry for 24 hours before they can be replaced into the machine. The instructions stress that this is very important to the efficiency of the machine, though they never seem to be very dirty when I do wash them, but although this is a bit of a pain, the bit I find most difficult is remembering to put them back in before I use it again. All in all the great features outweigh the niggles easily. This is a superb design, light, easy to use and Dyson give really good customer service. What's not to like?
I bought this vacuum as my old one (which was also a Dyson) finally died after 15 years of service. It was rather heavy, so I was looking for a much lighter vacuum which I could carry around easily (and still a Dyson as they are so reliable!). Then I saw this Dyson on Amazon at £190 which was only 5.2kg! It is not the Dyson Ball which looks so amazing in all the advertisements, but that is just too expensive! I did not want to have to buy replacement bags, so a bagless vacuum such as this one was just perfect! The vacuum looks very high tech, which it is with the 'no loss of suction' technology in which it spins the air so fast that forces up to 100,000 times the force of gravity fling dust and dirt out of the air and straight into the clear bin. And that includes the fine dust that can restrict airflow in some ordinary bagless vacuums. Unlike some other vacuum cleaners, Dyson machines don't lose suction. Also, there is a 5 year guarantee on the vacuum which gives me piece of mind in that if it breaks down I will get help. I love this Dyson and would definitely recommend it to anyone!
I bought this vacuum to replace my original that kept giving me problems. Not only was it always blocked and clogged with rubbish but the cost of having to pay for replacement bags was really starting to get out of control. I finally decided on this Dyson because I was assured that my problems would be cured and boy was I right. What I love about it is the fact that it does NOT clog up like the advertisements always state and that I do not have to pay to replace the bags because they come as a permanant feature with this model. The design is very appealing to the eye it looks very futuristic and very high tech. It defintely looks the part when friends and family come round they always comment on how cool it looks. I also like the suction of the plug when the button is being pressed it automatically gets sucked in with no need to have to tie it around the hoover. Another major plus point is the 5 year guarantee that it comes with I mean that intself justifies the price you pay for one of these machines. I've had to call up the helpline on one occasion and they were very helpful. They sent me a spare part one 1st class delivery in the post. A few days later I recieved the part and I couldn't believe how polite and helpful the staff where. It was a UK callcentre as well so I really felt at home instead of having to speak with a foreigner. Another bonus was the fact that the number was freephone from my landline so it didn't even cost me a penny. I admire the Dyson hoover that I purchased and defntly would recomend this to anybody who is serious about keeping thier house in a tidy condition.
Over the past five years I have gone through three different vacuum cleaners never spending more than £70 pounds on them as there are always better things to spend my money on, however when the last one blew up I decided to invest in something that would last me longer than a few years. I decided to look at Dyson vacuums as they come with a five year guarantee. I could justify to my boyfriend spending the extra money if it was going to last a lot longer. I chose this model because of the size. It is small enough to fit on a sheet of a4 paper. Which makes a lot of room in the utility cupboard. It weighs only 5.3kg so I can now store it on a shelf as lifting the vac above head height is not a problem. This also makes dragging it around the room and up the stairs easier. I have wooden floor, lino and carpets in my house and switching between the two is simple; there is a little catch at the front which drops the brushes down or puts them up to assist the best suction and deep cleaning action. The suction comes in at 160 AW where as some of the bigger models are 200 / 230 AW. However I personally think 160 AW is enough suction if you actually want any carpet left! I have a cat that is constantly leaving irritating little hairs everywhere he goes however I thought I managed to get most of them up using my old vacuum. I was surprised when this machine picked up an incredible amount of white fur from rugs that looked fairly clean to the naked eye! I want on a cleaning spree after this revelation and vacuumed all the mattresses, rugs and sofa marvelling at the disgusting rubbish that was humming round the machine afterwards! Due to it's size (only 0.68 Litres) it does need emptying more regularly but this isn't a problem because it's bag less therefore it doesn't cost anything to empty it! The machine comes with washable filters, which are easy to pop out and clearly labelled so you can put them back in the right way. It advises this is done every six months. You simply take them out and run them under the tap and then leave out to dry. I did this after four months because I was curious about how much dirt the filter contained and even after this short time it was a lot! After replacing the filters the vacuum seemed to have a surge in suction and the machine felt like I'd just taken it out of the box for the first time! The machine isn't as quiet as I thought it would be, still roars away scaring the cat but is a lot better than my other machine. Even though the machine is small the cord is still as long as regular machines and I'm able to nearly do all of the stairs before having to plug the machine in somewhere else. Coupled with this is the hose is fairly long too at eight meters and makes reaching fairy easy too. It's easy to move around the room and I find it easy getting into corners. The heads can be swapped simply; making those harder to reach places easy to do. This review may also appear on ciao.
After much searching around the web looking for a small cleaner for my office, I finally purchased the Dyson DC26, the only thing which stopped me going out straight away and buying it when it came on the market was the purchase price. As I already have an upright Dyson which I couldn't be without, I saw a fantastic discount via HUKD, and decided to buy it without hesitation. When it arrived it was quick and easy to assemble. I keep it downstairs as the 2nd vacuum and it's compact enough to keep in the small cupboard I have under the stairs. One of the problems with it is the filter is a bit fiddly to get too if you don't have any nails. The other filter was just as difficult to get to, as I had to use the end of a spoon to push the plastic screw to get it to open. Apart from that it has good suction and it's easy enough to clear out when it's full.
Once again a fantastic product from Mr Dyson! Samller and more lightweight than previous models, without and compromises. Improves on previous models allowing for quicker and more efficient carpet cleaning. Hose length is great for getting into those awkward corners from a standing position, ideal for stairs, cars, and high places too such as lights and cobwebs. Accessories (stair tool included) can be attached at 3 different positions allowing for maximum flexibility. 5m of power cable allows a full room to be cleaned without the need to switch to a power socket across the room. The powerful 1300W motor reiterates Dyson's place in the market, with no loss of suction as is signature of the brand. As its smaller it loses out somewhat on the holding capacity, but this is a small trade-off and you wont need to empty the machine mid-clean. Works on multi surfaces including carpet, ceramic, vinyl and wood. The filter is washable and guaranteed for life, and the rest of the machine is covered by a 5 year parts and labour warranty. Ideal if storage is at a premium where you use this vacuum.
I brought this Hoover as the house I was living in was rather small and had some awkward furniture that has hard to get around with a conventional Hoover. I found it very tiring using the hover as it was quite hard to pull across a full carpet. The suction was good and on a black carpet picked up a lot of bits and bobs, I also have a white westie which malts a lot of fur, this Hoover was great for picking up his fur from corner of the house. It worked great on laminate floor, as some Hoovers can miss bits on a smooth surface area, this Hoover didn't. The price was reasonable but after using a standard Dyson I don't think I would buy again. It is a splendid product, it is extremely compact, it is powerful and it is light - all the things one should consider when purchasing a City-Vac. It is also important to note the Dyson models have far greater warranty than others with an exceptional 5 year - this combined with faultless customer service is a strong reason to purchase.
When I was looking to buy a new vacuum cleaner, I needed something reliable. After a very bad experience with my last vacuum (which kept falling to bits), I decided with its famous brand name, a Dyson was a good option. I bought this from Curry's three weeks ago for £249.99. I chose this one because of its compact lightweight design. With three cats I'm always hoovering and didn't want to be dragging something big and clumpy around the house every time I needed to clean up. The Dyson DC 26 is very lightweight at just 5.3kg and has now made life a lot easier and I can now whizz round my carpets in no time. It is also a lot easier to get up and down the stairs than my last vacuum, which weighed a ton! It has a large carry handle which balances out it's weight easily when lifted. This is a massive benefit and makes this vacuum perfect for those of us who aren't weightlifters!! The flex is also long and I am now able to hoover through two rooms without constantly plugging and unplugging it as I go. The suction is also very good and it seems to suck up anything in it's path. This is ideal for people with pets as it picks up hairs, which can often be stubburn, effortlessly and with great speed. So far I have sucked up all sorts, including things that I haven't intended to. Think it's going to take me some time to get used to its power. The only down side to this vaccuum is it's capacity. At 0.7 litres I do feel like I'm always emptying it. This may be because of the smaller capacity or perhaps on a more positive note, it may be because it is picking up more dust and dirt! The bagless cylinder is very simple and easy to empty and re fit without to much hassle. The only problem I have found with bagless vaccuums are keeping them looking nice. Unless your keen on continuously cleaning out the inside of your vaccuum, which I am not, they always seem to look dirty very quickly. A small price to pay for the benefit of all that suction but thought it was worth mentioning. The overall build of the vacuum looks very sturdy and well made. This is a real plus as, even though I'm the first to admit that I am slightly heavy handed, my last vaccuum just couldn't hack the pace. This certainly looks like it was built to last. The Dyson DC26 is built with large wheels and glides along with ease when in use. It also comes with lots of handy tools. Although I haven't properly experimented with them all yet, they seem to be the usual brushes and tubes for stairs, skirting boards etc. This may also appear on Ciao under the username of Supersweep.
===Introduction=== This is my first but not my last review on a vacuum hoover - so please do not expect a review full of technical analysis on how fast it can suck up the bread crumbs or the dog hair that seems to be sitting in the middle of the carpet laughing at you as you attempt to scrape it, brush it, and hoover it. On the flipside I am the perfect consumer for this product, I own a small-ish house (I like technology and electrical items) and in most rooms in my house I have tiles or wood meaning all I need is a small compact little hoover - just like the... Dyson DC26 'city vac.' ===first impressions=== So what made buy the product, well I am have been a loyal Dyson consumer for the past 3 years on my own and the many others where I did live at home. So from the start I thought it would be a reliable, well-made product with excellent customer service (and a great advert!), and I wasn't too far wrong. The aesthetics of this product is good, the contrasting inner cylinders that are in different colours according to what size you get it in (small, medium and large), with each of the colours complementing the simplistic silver and making it seem very stylish - especially for a hoover. ===Functionality, how it is to use=== It is indeed a very powerful vacuum, with brilliant suction and efficiency. It is also excellent for getting the more cramped areas of the house, as well as the more spacious. It really can hoover up everything, and so far it has dealt with everything I have thrown at it - including my brothers dog's hair (please read that carefully I am referring to the animal not his companion, friends or himself) which is thick and matt black. I would as of yet give it a five star for usability, it is light with a weight of just 5.3 kg, which is impressive when thinking it has a 0.7L capacity. It is adaptable and rather sturdy which is important when you chuck it around the place quickly before the mother in law comes round. ===Negatives=== The only small problem is that quite frequently one needs to empty the dust and tap the filter (once again to release built up dust) however this is the same with any hoover - the positive being Mr. Dyson being a brilliant designer, realises this and therefore has made this process effortless. ===Overall=== It is a splendid product, it is extremely compact, it is powerful and it is light - all the things one should consider when purchasing a City-Vac. It is also important to note the Dyson models have far greater warranty than others with an exceptional 5 year - this combined with faultless customer service is a strong reason to purchase. I would highly recommend this to a friend, though I don't tend to talk about hoovers with my friends - but the principle is still there! Great product!
