I have always sworn by a Dyson vacuum cleaner (perhaps its the fascination with seeing the dirt coming out of your carpets and up into the cylinder) and having two dogs I couldn't wait to buy the animal version. When i first moved out of my parents house i had no idea how to chose a vacuum but had two dogs and a cat so the Dyson dc27 animal seemed like a no brainer. Boths of my dogs are very long haired and this wasn't a problem. We had both carpets and hardwood floor and although the vacuum has a setting for wood floor it seemed to just push the bits around but if a used the carpet setting on the wood floor it worked fine. it is quite a heavy vacuum but easy to manuvre.
