Advantages: Ease of use and emptying, all the relevant tools
Disadvantages: Carrying it can be a little awkward
So many of my friends have moaned about Dyson vacuums but as someone who is currently on my second Dyson I still can't understand what they are going on about.
The Dyson comes with a 5 year parts and labour guarantee, which I have never needed so far, and despite being almost all plastic it has a solid, reliable feel to it which gives me the hope it will last.
This particular Dyson is easy to use, provides the tools for all the normal jobs you would use a vacuum for and they are all stored on the machine and very easy to connect when need. The quick draw telescopic reach wand and hose when attached has a maximum reach of 14.64 metres and I can just about reach to the top of the stairs meaning I don't have to carry it behind me. The fact that the brush stops spinning when the machine is upright removes that worry of friction burns on the stairs if you do end up carrying it behind you.
I have a cat and a dog and my Dyson has no problem vacuuming up any fur on the furniture or carpets. It also makes short work getting rid of the usual build up of crumbs in and under my sofas. It is equally as good when being used on hard floors such as in the kitchen due to its auto height adjustment which alters according to the floor type..
The tools are very easy to attach and use and the fact they are all carried on the Dyson means no hunting around trying to find them when required. I have found filters etc easy to remove and clean and the large 2.3 litre capacity dirt collector can be removed and emptied one handed.
It can be a little heavy and awkward when carrying it up to vacuum the first floor.
It is currently available on Amazon for around £220 but a bit of shopping around could probably find you a cheaper one.
Summary: Good vacuum with decent suction which has never given me any problems
