      A great little hoover for all those hard to reach spots.

      My husband convinced me we needed a small hand held cleaner but to be honest I thought it was a bit of a fad and wouldn't get that much use. How wrong I was! This little chap is ideal for our home with its steep stairs and messy toddler.

      Looks
      With the traditional grey and yellow features it is pretty obviously a Dyson. With no bags it is easy to see when it needs emptying and is super simple to empty into the bin. It is quite compact and is just a bit longer than a shoe box although the charger does make it bigger. We find that it sits nicely behind our speakers. I find it a comfortable weight to use and I am not body builder and it is easy to press the button on the handle to switch it on.

      Use
      I find it difficult to clean all our stairs with our upright Dyson but this cleaner is ideal for reaching the places other cleaners can't and makes light work of the stairs. It is also quite handy for cleaning the entrance when I can't be bothered to carry the big Dyson down all the stairs. This is very handy when someone comes in with muddy boots as you can quickly hoover up the dirt before it is trampled all over the house.
      The hand held Dyson is great when my toddler decides to throw cereal over the floor and tackles most types of mess well. Heavens knows it gets a good workout from my son! Being quite compact it gets easily around table and chair legs which is very convenient. It copes very well on all of our surfaces including tiles, carpet and laminate. (Yes our son is that messy!)
      The other place it is a star cleaner is in the car. We like to get out and about at the weekend so mud, twigs and small stones all seem to find their way into the car. Add to this mess my son creates with rice cakes and biscuits and you can understand why I would buy the Dyson for the car alone. Again it is great for getting dirt off the carpets and the car seats.
      The only drawback is that although it charges quick fast there is no indicator to show how much charge it has remaining. This sometimes means that it loses power in the middle of a clean up. The solution is to charge it after use but we don't always remember to do this.

      Overall
      I am very happy with our purchase. It takes a lot of hard work out of cleaning the stairs and car. For quick clean up of spills it is faster to grab that than to get the big Dyson out so it really does suit us. At around £170 it is not cheap but we find it works well for us and I consider it value for money as it does a lot of work and I expect it will last for a long time.

      Amazing suction power in your hand!

      Personally, I think you should get one of these free with every child you have! For me, that's the main reason I bought one of these. Children are messy, simple as that, and this Dyson just wipes away their trail of destruction in a few short bursts!

      ==Performance 10/10==

      Powerful enough? Holy moly this thing goes like the clappers! Considering it could suck a golf ball through a hosepipe, its actually quite a quiet machine.

      ==Ease of use 10/10==

      Due to its light weight, operating this thing is really a very simple and dare I say it enjoyable task. Its so light and easy to wave around that it does feel like an extension of your arm. You hold it like you'd hold a gun, with your index finger firmly on the trigger! The nozzle has a great little feature whereby you can simply slide a brushed head over the top of it that is already built-in behind it. This is great as it means there's no fiddly nozzles to attatch or stick to the unit. As with all Dysons these days, you empty it by flicking a little clip, which opens the dirt chamber for release straight into your bin.

      I'd recommend this to anyone. Parents will worship it, clean-freaks will love it, but sadly your dog will still bark at it...

      Splendid

      I love the way they describe it as a 'digital motor', meaning, it either works at full power, or it doesn't! Not that I have a problem with this. After all, a handheld vac with a dwindling battery is not much use to man or beast.
      This is a super little vac - a good powerful suction makes it ideal for quickly clearing up mess. The gun type trigger makes it a doddle to use. To empty, hold over bin and press red switch and the underside pops open and releases the rubbish. It comes with a long nozzle, plus a useful tool that adjusts from a brush into a normal nozzle.
      Battery life is only about 5 mins, but to be honest, that's all you really need it for - any bigger job and you'd just get the main vac out.
      It's certainly the best effort at a handheld vac I've seen so far.

      worth it for a monthly hoover out of the car, and if you are organised enough to charge regularly

      Dyson is most certainly the household name when it comes to vacuum cleaners.

      This Dyson cost me the best part of £150 and I bought it primarily to hoover out our car after taking the dogs for a walk and to clear up after our small child.

      On both aspects, this hoover does the job satisfyingly. The power of suction is quite impressive. (due to the Dyson digital motor being three times more powerful than a conventional hand held vacuum motor).. This makes it not only more powerful than other but also more energy efficient.

      The DC30 is incredibly lightweight. weighing only 1.2 Kg, this makes it easy to handle and carry even when full. My parents, despite "maturing" as they would politely say, do not struggle at all using this product and are impressed at its ease of use and handling.

      Its charging is fast. I tend to use for 10mins and charge overnight to fully restore, but I read that it advises it charges 3x quicker than any other of its kind.

      As for ease of use, emptying the bin couldn't be easier. You simply press a button, when holding the vacuum over a bin to avoid making the mistake I did on first use, and the bottom pops open dropping the dust straight out. It is much easier to use this as a style specifically for the car, than the standard hoover.

      Complimenting it, is a wide debris nozzle and brush.

      The only negative is that it only has a 6 minute constant suction for every charge. I find it frustrating when it starts to drain.

      Great suction you can use anywhere.

      Dyson the main name when it comes to vacuum cleaners. Not necessarily the main name when it comes to hand held vacuum cleaners. This Dyson DC30 cost me £150 almost two years ago. The main reason I got it was to clean the car. This I am thankful to say is a job it does extremely well. The power of suction is quite impressive. This is because of the Dyson digital motor which they say is three times more powerful than a conventional hand held vacuum motor. This makes it not only more powerful but also more energy efficient.

      The DC30 weighs only 1.2 Kg, this makes it easy to handle and carry even when full. It charges quicker than my previous model and the packaging and booklet say it recharges three times faster than other models.

      Emptying the bin couldn't be easier. You simply press a button when holding the vacuum over a bin and the bottom pops open dropping the dust straight out.
      You get a wide debris nozzle and brush with it. These are great for anything that's hard to lift and hard to get at. The crevice tool gets into the tightest of places. This is a must when using to clean the car.

      The overall look is very Dyson. It has a large grey handle and a long nozzle. The very top is bright custard yellow, while the power switch / trigger is dark red.

      This has been of great use to me since I got it, as a standard plug in vacuum is very awkward to use in a car.
      The only down side is that it only has a 6 minute constant suction for every charge. I find it frustrating when it starts to drain. That's my only problem with this otherwise great hand held vacuum.

        Disadvantages

        Overall, very good vacuum

        This item was purchased for those quick jobs and particularly for use vacuuming the car. First of all, it looks fantastic and unlike any other handheld vacuums I've seen.

        It is particularly powerful, the only downside of the product is due to this, the great power means it is very noisy, I'd say more noisy than other similar vacuums.

        However, the suction it creates is brilliant, there is no trouble sucking up those usually hard to get pieces. The 'nozzle' of the vacuum, being long and thin means you can easily access small and hard to reach areas.

        The brush attachment is also very useful.

        The charging port is wall mounted in my house, this means it is very easily accessible and does not take up storage space that could be used to other items.

        It is also both easy to empty and clean.

        The ergonomics of the item are also great, it feels very natural to hold and the hand positioning is ideal.

        Great product, highly recommended.

        Would reccommend

        Again, like most of my reviews, I'm going to start by telling you why I purchased this device. And, once again, that reason is because it looks sensational. This vaccum looks like some kind of futuristic death ray gun and there is nothing un-cool about that.

        This vaccum features Dyson's well known 'Cyclone-technology' which claims to never lose suction. And in the time I have owned this, which must be around a year and a half now, I have to say that this claim is standing up to the test. This little handheld vaccum can clean my carpets far better than my panasonic upright vaccum and has none of this spitting nonsense that you get with other vaccums.

        One of the best features of this product is probably the nozzle extenstions, which are designed to allow you to vaccum floors without the need to bend down. You simply push a little button on the top of the product and clip your nozzle in to place. This design only works because of the immense suction power of the dyson, which can easily handle sucking the dust all the way up this fairly long tube. What's more is the ends of the nozzles all have the perfect angle on them so that when your holding the vaccum in your hand the nozzle will go flat against the floor, pretty nifty.

        My favourite feature of this product, however, has to be the trap door style release at the bottom. This is a bagless vaccum and therefore collects all of the dust etc in the contre of the body. Then to release it you simply hold your vaccum over a bin, press the little blue button and the door at the bottom of the product opens, allowing all of the waste to fall into the bin beneath. It's a very simple way of doing things and a brilliant idea. However, be certain that when you are done that you close the doors FIRMLY, otherwise you might find that upon your next use you simply move the dirt around.

        The only downsides to this product have to be it's weight, which can be a little bit heavy on your arm after about 5 minutes of use, but that is not a huge problem as the next downside is the battery life, which after a full charge (which takes around 3 hours) only lasts about 5-6 minutes. But this thing is so efficient that cleaning doesnt take any more than 5 minutes.

        Overall this is a very well designed product which has unparralleled suction power. It is perfect for cleaning areas such as the stairs, the car or around tables and skirting boards etc. However it is quite pricey, at around £110, but I feel it is worth the money.

          If you are looking for an hand held vacuum cleaner look no further.

          The Dyson DC30 is a fantastic all round house hold tool capable of achieving all your vacuuming needs, it is a typical Dyson in terms of fantastic engineering and operational qualities, it is fantastically made and the most powerful hand held vacuum I have ever owned or used. I combine it with a regular Dyson for doing regular housework, I use the big one on the mass of the carpet and then go around the edges with this little beast, I also use it to quickly clear patches when its not too bad, it keeps its charge well and you get fantastic usage for your money. Its also compact enough to take away to the caravan and does a fantastic job there too, you pay a little extra for Dysons but its so obvious why, I found it to be another success for them and I am very pleased with the purchase.

          Okay for small areas

          The Headline for this item I chose because it is only for quick jobs. I got this as I though it would be easy to use for cleaning the car outside. However after charging for about an hour at the least there is only 6 minutes working time. Not really long enough to clean a car!
          With this aside the actual suction of the machine is very good for its size and does really pick up lots of dirt and dust. This is contained in the see through chamber and so easy to see what you are picking up.
          To empty the chamber you just need to push a button and the container falls off then it is just dropped into the bin.
          The item is quite cumbersome and it is not very flexible in trying to manuver it in small spaces, but if just cleaner the sofa or the stairs it is fine!
          The item is quite light so it does not ache your arm holding it. It is quite long and so does tend to "Drop" down when holding it.
          The charger can be srewed to the wall to allow easy storage and charging. Being no good at DIY mine is not up on the wall yet!
          I would not reply on this for all your vacuming as it does not have enough continued power in it. You also can not use it whilst plugged into the wall. There is a little light gage on the side telling you how much power you have left so it does not die on you with out warning.
          All in all it is a good little unit but dont expect too much from it. Good for small areas or stairs but that is about it!

          What weighs a bit and sucks like so well...? yes you've got it.. it's ..................

          When you hear the word Dyson most people instantly think of a vacuum cleaner with the suction power than never dies, and you'd be right in thinking that.
          Dyson have done it again, this time in a hand held vacuum cleaner for those jobs that are a little too far from that plug socket, or for that quick clean up. This particular hand held vacuum cleaner which I bought a few months back, is called the Dyson DC30... What a name eh..?

          Anyway, as I said, I have been the proud owner of this Dyson handheld, although when I say proud I'm going over the top a little there to be honest, and have used it so many times I feel like I can now safely give my honest opinion about it.

          So, the Dyson DC30 is, as I said, a hand held vacuum cleaner with the power of a sturdy electric upright.

          ** SPECS...

          * 40 airwatts
          * full charge gives around 6 minutes of use
          * 133W motor
          * 14.8 volts
          * Low battery indicator
          * 0.35 litre dust container
          * Lifetime filtration
          * Washable filter
          * 205(H) x 322(W) x 116mm(D)
          * 1.25 kg in weight
          * Comes with a crevice tool, brush and a debris nozzle

          Well that's the specs out of the way with.... Although I will add that it uses what Dyson call 'Unique Root cyclone technology' giving no loss of suction unlike the standard filter vacuum cleaners.
          And with Dysons new digital motor it gives as good a suction as ever in a much lighter unit.

          ** MY OPINION...

          It may look like some kind of deadly weapon from a Star Trek movie, especially when the cleaning attachments are on. The cleaning attachments protrude from the front, strutting out from the dust container, just below the infamous Dyson cyclone system.
          There is a lovely 'Dyson' yellow plastic casing covering the 'cyclone' system, curving around the top of the dust container. The 'trigger', or on/off switch, is house behind the 'yellow' case, just below the 14.8 watt motor.
          In fact the entire unit reminds me of an industrial sized drill, albeit a bit of a yellow one at that.
          It stands up on its own due to the flat base below the 'trigger' section, the dust container stopping it from tipping over forwards, although the weight of the motor keeps it steady.

          This unit is a little heavier than many handheld models on the market but the slight weight almost compensates for the great suction power, even if the power lasts as long as a politicians promise.
          The charging unit itself is neat and tidy with a good sized cable, being almost 2 metres long.

          Emptying the dust container is easy, being just a matter of pressing the blue button on the top, the one which stands out from the yellow 'cyclone' cover. This then allows the dust container base to drop open, emptying the contents into the waiting bin, but do remember to hold the unit over a bin before pressing the blue button.
          Then there's the easy matter of changing the cleaning attachments, simply by pressing the button on the front of the protruding attached nozzle, slipping the detachable nozzles in place.

          It's not all good though, possibly due to the fact that to have something which is so powerful it will take some power to perform. In other words it may have some great suction power but even after a full charge, which can take up to 3 and a half hours, the battery is surprisingly bad, lasting maybe five minutes, making this Dyson handheld a bit of a let down for those longer cleaning jobs due to the low battery life.
          Although holding the Dyson aloft for that length of time does tend to have a bit of a drain on ones wrist, in fact, after several minutes of use I found that my wrist felt like it does when I've being having a watering can in my hand for a while, (and I mean watering can and nothing else).

          In all, Dyson has created a sort of miniature version of there very famous and remarkably powerful vacuum cleaner, although it can weigh your wrist down a little.
          It does clean better than any other hand held vacuum but for the price, which does come in at around the £110.00 mark, I do feel a little disgruntled at what I have for the price I paid.

          Would I recommend this unit to you?
          Well...yes and no... I'm sort of standing in the middle, sitting on the fence so to speak.
          On the scores out of ten I would give it 10 out of 10 for the power, but I would have to knock off at least 3 for the weight, then drop another 2 for the price, so in the end I would have to go mid way and give this unit 5 out of 10.
          If the price came below the £100.00 mark, maybe of they didn't charge so much for the Dyson logo, then I would say get this vacuum for those sudden spills that need that deeper clean.

            Overall does what claims to

            I bought this item primarily due to becoming a dog owner. It was getting rather tedious constantly lugging out my main Dyson to hoover stray dog hairs which seemed to get everywhere. This prooved useful in hoovering up those annoying dog hairs. In addition to this it has also prooven useful in clearning up the mess my 9 month old seems to make during meal times.

            This handheld hoover has a powerful suction and always pick up effectively and quickly. The downside to this item is that the power does not last for long enough and I find myself charging this constantly.

            It also needs emptying regulary but this does not pose a probelm due to the fact it is easy and quick to empty.

            Overall I feel for the use I get form this item I did not get my moneys worth. However this is easy to use and does what it claims to.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            Overall, this product offers excellent value for money and is worth the extra cost.

            Dyson's are known for their excellent suction, thought out design and reliability. I'm glad to say this product follows that trend.

            ~~~ VACUUMING ~~~
            This little device has excellent suction and it is, by far, the best handheld vacuum cleaner I have ever used. It is a slightly heavier than some of the competing products but this caused no difficulty while vacuuming. The attachments are easy to attach/remove.
            ~~~ EMPTYING ~~~

            I found the vacuum cleaner very easy to empty; in fact, it is far easier than any other handheld vacuum cleaner I have used. To empty, you simply hold it over a bin, press a button and the bottom opens causing the contents to fall into the bin.

            Quite often, the dust/crumbs/etc will stick and not fall into the bid. In these cases you have to pull the dust out manual. Although this was a disadvantage and a little bit inconvenient, it really wasn't much of a problem and might be as a result of me filling the vacuum cleaner too full.

            On that note, I should say that the vacuum cleaner does need emptied quite regularly but it only takes two minutes to empty. On the plus side, the reason it needs emptied so often is due to its excellent suction capabilities that mean lots of dust/crumbs/etc and picked up.

            ~~~ BATTERY LIFE ~~~
            I found battery life to be okay but not brilliant. I get 1 or 2 uses out of the vacuum cleaner in between charges. On the other hand, I have never used a handheld vacuum cleaner which I have thought had good battery life. Keeping the product plugged in when not in use means that battery life is seldom an issue.
            ~~~ RELIABILITY ~~~

            I have had absolutely no reliability issues with this, or any other Dyson product I have owned. The build quality is excellent.

            ~~~ VALUE FOR MONEY ~~~
            This product is more expensive than other similar products but I feel it is good value for money. Cheaper products tend to be less reliable, more difficult to use, and be poorer at vacuuming. I would recommend paying that bit extra for this product as it really is worth the money.
            great, best one i've tried
            Having bought four of these mini vacs in the past, only for them to end up in the back of the cupboard because they just never quite seemed to have the power they required, i was pretty sceptical about purchasing another one, but we had some vouchers that needed to be used up, and already having the dyson ball, this took my fancy! I read up on it and found that a few people rated it quite highly so i cautiously bought one... and am delighted to find that it really is wonderful! I manage to hoover the stairs with my toddler 'helping', and it effortlessly picks up the piles of biscuit crumbs etc that said child leaves a trail of wherever she goes.
            Battery life is incredible, i have never yet managed to run it out - can do hall stairs and landing, and go around and get stray crumbs and fluff from all other rooms quite happily before it even starts to slow down.
            Can be a little tough to empty, but some of these that i've tried have been near impossible - i would say that if you have any problems at all with joint mobilty in your hands you may want to try before you buy, as the very straightforward looking catch is very stiff and needs to be prised open with both hands sadly.
            Having said all that, there are two real drawbacks to this fabulous little machine... the first is that this seems to be the only thing that will wake my daughter from her nap every time it is switched on, without fail! And secondly, i keep finding it missing because hubby has pinched it for some little tidying up job in the garage...!
              A cleaning product I am proud to own. And I don't say that very often...
              A brilliant bit of kit that's incredibly useful when it comes to getting at hard to reach places that an ordinary Dyson/hoover can't handle! Between its super quick recharges, it lasts roughly 25/30 mins. Emptying it is far from hard. That being said, this is by no means a replacement for the good old hoover but its an incredibly useful cleaning tool for smaller jobs that you often encounter in and around the house and even car. If I'm being honest, when I first bought this product I had no idea that I'd find it as useful as I do now and use it as often as I do now. It has a handy little extension on the end of the arm that makes it even easier to reach places that are usually out of reach. In addition to this, the suction (as you'd expect) is top notch. Well done, Dyson.
              Perfect little gaget for small every day jobs!
              This is a perfect hand held hover! We own one and it is fantastic. It is brilliant for getting to all those hard to reach places as well as cleaning up silly little patches of dirt! I use this hover to clean my car as it saves time and energy because I don't have to get the extension lead out or the large heavy hover and carry it around the place and get it outside! On average it last about 20 mins before it needs recharging but it does recharge incredibly quickly! It is also so easy to empty and it is not fiddly or difficult and you defiantly don't end up getting all the rubbish all over the floor again. I wouldn't say swoop your old heavy hover for this one as you should stick to a larger hover for larger house hold cleaning. This hoover is much more suitable for small jobs! Every home should own one! The hover has a small extension on the end of the arm to make it even easier to reach in those out of normal reach area, also it has two different heads a plain plastic one which sucks up pretty much everything or you can use the head with a small brush on the end.
              I hope this is helpful! I definatly recomend one they are so handy just to pick up and store away on its charger.
