Advantages: Great suction, great design
Disadvantages: Heavy, rubbish battery life
Again, like most of my reviews, I'm going to start by telling you why I purchased this device. And, once again, that reason is because it looks sensational. This vaccum looks like some kind of futuristic death ray gun and there is nothing un-cool about that.
This vaccum features Dyson's well known 'Cyclone-technology' which claims to never lose suction. And in the time I have owned this, which must be around a year and a half now, I have to say that this claim is standing up to the test. This little handheld vaccum can clean my carpets far better than my panasonic upright vaccum and has none of this spitting nonsense that you get with other vaccums.
One of the best features of this product is probably the nozzle extenstions, which are designed to allow you to vaccum floors without the need to bend down. You simply push a little button on the top of the product and clip your nozzle in to place. This design only works because of the immense suction power of the dyson, which can easily handle sucking the dust all the way up this fairly long tube. What's more is the ends of the nozzles all have the perfect angle on them so that when your holding the vaccum in your hand the nozzle will go flat against the floor, pretty nifty.
My favourite feature of this product, however, has to be the trap door style release at the bottom. This is a bagless vaccum and therefore collects all of the dust etc in the contre of the body. Then to release it you simply hold your vaccum over a bin, press the little blue button and the door at the bottom of the product opens, allowing all of the waste to fall into the bin beneath. It's a very simple way of doing things and a brilliant idea. However, be certain that when you are done that you close the doors FIRMLY, otherwise you might find that upon your next use you simply move the dirt around.
The only downsides to this product have to be it's weight, which can be a little bit heavy on your arm after about 5 minutes of use, but that is not a huge problem as the next downside is the battery life, which after a full charge (which takes around 3 hours) only lasts about 5-6 minutes. But this thing is so efficient that cleaning doesnt take any more than 5 minutes.
Overall this is a very well designed product which has unparralleled suction power. It is perfect for cleaning areas such as the stairs, the car or around tables and skirting boards etc. However it is quite pricey, at around £110, but I feel it is worth the money.
