This is definitely the best vacuum cleaner that I have ever used. I'm only 21 but I've used a few in my time...Vax, Electrolux, you name it I've cleared up spilt milk with it.

These cleaner's are different from conventional ones in that they don't have a traditional dustbag, but collect dust in a removable plastic container. This model has two integral cone-shaped 'cyclones'.

Dirty air enters the outer cyclone which spins out the larger dust and dirt particles. As the air passes from the outer to the inner cyclone, the shroud is a vital dust and fluff separator. Even greater centrifugal forces in the inner cyclone remove more microscopic particles. There is no bag to clog up the suction potential.By making the air stream spin, dirt and debris are subjected to centrifugal force. The dirt and debris are thrown out of the air. A cone shape concentrates the spinning air to create greater centrifugal force (think of a car driving round a tight bend compared to a gentle one: you can feel yourself being pushed to the outside of the car). This throws even finer dust particles out of the air.

This is the theory, but how well does it work in practice? Well it's no wonder that these cleaner's have been so successful. When hoovering a rug in my lounge for the first time with this machine, I saw it change colour before my eyes! People I know who suffer from skin irritation have used them on their mattresses to remove all the dust mites etc. and have had really satisfying results.

For fine dust particles this hoover works great, and the brush that is located by the wheels helps to pick up things like cat and dog hair. However, a lot of larger objects are moved over without them being picked up.

For getting into tight spots, one can detach a metal tube through a concertina plastic sheath. This can then be used in conjunction with a clip on plastic tube, brush and other attachment to get into hard t
o reach areas, or for cleaning delicate materials. I found the quality of these to be a bit of a let down, two out of three have snapped and can't be used. Also, the plastic sheath is prone to splitting, leaving you with almost no suction.
