Advantages: Good Cleaner, No Bag replacement
Disadvantages: Cost of filters, Reliability
Purchased this Vacuum cleaner about 18 months ago in a sale - it cost £130. I was immediately impressed with it cleaning ability. Its amazing how much more dirt/dust it picks up compared with the old vacuum cleaner. This was my first ‘bagless’ vacuum cleaner. I had considered purchasing a Dyson but was put off by the PRICE and garish colour scheme. As already stated in other review this Vacuum is a little unstable but so are most upright vacuum cleaners! If you follow the manufacturers instructions then the ongoing maintenance cost of this cleaner are quite high. Your meant to replace the Cassette Filter once every 3 months and you may as well replace the Motor filter as they come in the same pack! A filter pack cost around £10 for 3 sets plus a HEPA filter change every 6 months (£20). This will set you back around £60 pounds per year – I don’t remember spending that on bags! I would consider looking at models with washable lifetime filters. Around the 14 months mark there was a big bang and cloud of black smoke came filtering out. The motor has given up the ghost. It cost £60 for a new motor. The shop where I purchased the motor had had a few of these to replace recently! Overall it’s a good cleaner but I’m not sure about the long term reliability. I think you certainly need to keep the filters as clean as possible. I’m also not impressed with the ‘bagless’ concept in this cleaner. There is no cover for this Cassette so when you remove it for emptying there is always a certain visible amount of dust that escapes. You then have the choice of dumping the contents into a bag (more dust) or taking it directly outside for dumping.

- 21/08/01 Perhaps you would have been better off with a Hooever bagless. We've bought two (one upstairs/one downstairs) becasue of their weight - but they have only washable filters - so no continued expenditure. as long as you empty the canister frequently and keep the filters clean 9so as not to strain the motor, they should be reliable.
BTW, it was a rveiew on the Hoover Vortex that started me on dooYoo. The cleaner has a lot to answer for - lol |
