Advantages: good coverage, fine as an upright cleaner

Disadvantages: unsteady, can give you quite a knock, hose too short

The Electrolux Smart Vac with True Hepa (whatever that is) is fine if you only use it as an upright vacuum cleaner. If you dare to start using the hose and tools then you need to be aware that it can be a real 'pain' to use.

We bought this cleaner after having a cylinder cleaner for so long and it was hard work. This looked like the cleaner we were looking for. It has a light that only goes out when the carpet is clean (apparently) - that lasted a few months and has never worked since.

As an upright cleaner it is fine but you do need to be aware that when you start using the attachments it becomes a lethal weapon!

The cleaner becomes very unstable when you pull out the hose and start using the attachments. Be very careful as it easily topples over and can give you quite a bad knock on the head if you are not careful. I have forgotten how many bruises I have acquired when using the hose and attachments. Basically the machine is not sturdy enough to stand up when you use the hose and even cleaning the car out can give you some wicked bruises when it falls over.

I am not alone in this - my partners mum has one too and regularly receives knocks and bruises from using it.

The hose is too short to give you any distance from the cleaner itself so when you pull at the hose, it falls over and hits you.

It is fine when used as an upright cleaner but forget it if you want to clean stairs, cars, corners etc.

Thanks Dave, I will look at doing that and save any more bruises.

To stop it from being so unstable make sure you hook the hose on the clip at the base... as shown in the instruction book... this will ensure the vac does not fall over all the time... I learned from bruises too.
