Our previous vacuum cleaner stopped working when we introduced our new cat to the carpets! Needless to say, we were looking for a device that could withstand pet hairs! There were a few on the market that caught our eye but were out of our price range - The Electrolux Pet Lover came in on budget and was on offer at our local supermarket at the time, making it a must buy! Family members had owned Electrolux vacuum cleaners, so the brand came highly recommended.
The vacuum cleaner itself is aesthetically pleasing whilst functional. No gimmicks! Its bagged, which was a must for us as we had bad experiences with bagless vacuum cleaners in the past and features a substantial 6m cord, making it portable around bigger rooms.
Perhaps the cleverest feature (and closest to a 'gimmick' as this clever vacuum cleaner has) is the 'turbo nozzle' which sits neatly in a cradle below the front of the handle. In plastic casing, there is a wheel with brushes. When connected to the extension pipe, it whizzes round and collects pet hair from furniture and carpets. Sadly, 3 years later this gadget has broken - But its withstood some use, so can't really complain!
The vacuum cleaner itself has 4 settings which alters the position of the device to the floor; hard floor, short pile, long pile and a mat symbol (I presume that's what it is - never found out) which is useful as our house contains carpets of different piles and wooden flooring too.
Overall, the vacuum cleaner has become a family favourite for 3 years. Adding a toddler to the mix, the vacuum cleaner is used daily to clean up cat hairs and leftover food! Its withstood the test of time (with the exception of the 'turbo nozzle') and I'd highly recommend it.
Struggling to think negatively, the vacuum cleaner isn't very effective at picking up dirt from wooden flooring. Its often 'spat' little shards of stone the cats kindly brought in to the house which lands on my leg. Oww! I tend to brush the floor before giving it a once over with the device. Not really a big issue, as I said - I was struggling to think of a disadvantage!
I have a dog. My dog sheds it's fur. How to get the fur out of the carpet? Get a pet hoover!
So I bought the Electrolux Z2255AZ Powerlite Pet Lover with great expectations as Electrolux is a brilliant brand... or so I thought.
For the first few weeks everything seemed ok. The dog fur seemed to be getting completely picked up and all was right in the world. I was mistaken. The Electrolux Z2255AZ Powerlite Pet Lover wasn't picking up all the dog hairs but seemed to be pushing some of the dog hair into the carpet. I spent a few hours dragging my foot across the floor like The Hunchback of Notre Dame getting all the hair up.
It's very bulky so it was hard finding somewhere out of the way to hide it. I would find a good place for it later.
I gave the floor another hoover the following day only to find that this time the Electrolux Z2255AZ Powerlite Pet Lover wasn't lifting anything at all now. I checked the bottom and the tube and there was barely any suction so I assumed there must be a blockage but after a thorough check I couldn't find a blockage anywhere. I called the company but they fobbed me off saying there was a waiting list so if they picked up the Electrolux Z2255AZ Powerlite Pet Lover I wouldn't get it back for 8-9 weeks.
I binned it.
As an owner of 3 cats, with a young baby you can definatly say i need a good hoover. I cartianly have one now with the electrolux!! It has multiful different levels of cleaning from short to deep carpets. It is small and compact enabling it to easily be hidden away from everyone. Its very easy to assemble and only takes 10 minutes at most. This product has so much power when cleaning. I really am suprised and shocked at the amount of dirt/pet hair it picks up. I would never go back to using another type of hoover as i feel the electrolux does and ideal job and the price isnt half bad too. So what more can you ask for? well it doesnt look to bad either, it has brilliant attachments for the furniture/stairs ect so you can really clean every nook and cranny, its not heavy either so i dont mind taking it up and down stairs. The attachemnts are small enough to get in the areas behind cushions ect. The hose isnt long enough to reach the top of the stairs from the bottom so you do need one hand to hold vaccume. The power cord is 6m long and Its pretty noisy but then show me a decent hoover that isnt?? But it doesnt wake a sleeping baby!! well not mine anyway. Its a BAGGED vaccume so you do need bags which are 4ltr dustbags, price depends on where you but them a 5 pack for £3.99 or a 20 pack for £9.99 from the electrolux website. Its HEPA filtration, an
