Advantages: cleans very powerfully
Disadvantages: hose keeps blowing out of its socket
Looking about for a new Vacuum cleaner for my new flat this product caught my eye. I have no pets but it was half price in BHS that day. Reduced from £130 to £65 what a bargain?
This product has however annoyed me since it was bought. That was two years ago and now and it has been binned even though it still works. One of the most annoying points is that the hose which pushes into the base of the cleaner will not stay in its socket as it keeps getting blown out of there. All the time it is in use you have to stop and push the hose back into its socket. Who ever designed this part of the cleaner must never have used it or done any testing on it at all as anyone who has used it can tell that it needs a latch or lock to hold the hose in place. The hose can be taken out to suck up lose items.
The bag less design means you can see when it is filling up and boy does it fill up fast. It seems to take up a awful lot of carpet fluff. When it has good suction the dust and fluff will be spinning around inside the see through hard plastic case that holds the dirt. If the dust and dirt is not spinning about inside the case it is not picking up any dirt. This happens after a few uses as the brushes beat the carpet within an inch of its useful life and the dirt box fills up so quickly because of that.
The filter needs to be cleaned every now and again or it will be blocked up. If it is not cleaned no suction is the result. Replacement of the filter after eighteen months was undertaken as it is when it could no longer be cleaned out and also as it stunk after an attempt to prolong its life by washing the filter out. A lingering small of very dirty socks when ever it was turned on means that washing the old filter out is not recommended
The new filter an be bought on e Bay for about 10 pounds. It will then extended the life of the cleaner.
It has a hand brush on the handle which you plug onto the end of the hose and it spins around but cannot find much to do with it. It also has a plastic extension tube that was never used connected to the side of the machine.
Another bad point is air blows out of the side of the brushes problems caused by then spinning around which on hard floors blows dirt all over the place. The brush height is adjustable for different surfaces. A good point is it never gets blocked up like the older designs used to. It has a long wire but the cleaner went over the wire and it was cut open by the brushing action leaving the copper in the wire showing so strong is the brushing action.
Overall an annoying design for a cleaner which should never have been passed for production. I now have a cleaner which just about picks up the crumbs on the floor and leaves the carpets where it should be on the floor and not in a vacuum cleaner.
Summary: The motor is to powerful for this badly designed cleaner
