Electrolux Powerplus Z4411 ... it does seem like an extraordinary bargain that you can buy a cheap cylinder vacuum cleaner just to suck up dirt and there are a few models exclusive to Argos and Tesco which offer bagged collection of dirt – but in almost all cases the bag capacity is small or the machine has to be emptied all the time after each use which for anyone like me, I can’t be bothered with. These days however Electrolux have waxed clever to the idea of the humble paper bag, which is why you will find most of their current bagged cylinders equipped with a few paper bags to start you off AND a permanent washable textile bag to use instead. I first purchased this Electrolux it was on sale at Makro for under £30 and at the time of purchase in 2005 it looked like a safe bet against cheaper brands even I had never heard of. Index used to sell this model under their Swan brand name before they went bust whilst online EBay sellers have sold this model for £40 and as such remains to be a budget offering against the small and diminishing market that bagged cylinder vacuums used to command. What this model has against cheaper alternatives is a strong motor which gives greater suction, lower noise and thoughtful features. Electrolux Mondo 1 1150E ... Mondo vacuum by Electrolux appears to have been a hit and miss product amongst reviewers on Dooyoo, but I’ve owned and used my Aunt’s model since 1992 when she bought it brand new from Comet for £49-99. This model in particular still exists but with an auto cord rewind function in the U.S under the brand name “Eureka,” as well as Electrolux’s commercial brand. It is however no longer on sale on the high street unless private electrical shops sell these basic machines reconditioned.
