Advantages: Great suction, Lightweight
Disadvantages: Price
The other day my hoover packed up whilst I was doing the stairs, being only haqlf way down I had to run next door and borrow my neighbours hoover. This happened to be a Henry Cylinder Vacumn Cleaner HVR200, this little chappie has a cute face on the front and is a nice red colour. It ois 1100 watts and has stainless steel tubes with black plastic flexipipes for easy cleaning. Doing the housework isn't one of my favorite things but it has to be done and having a hoover break down on you is tragic but having been rescued by the neigbours I thought I'd test this little Henry as my Moulinex Boss which had just packed up was great at getting into all the small places and the suction on it was brilliant. I did wonder if this little henry was good enough for the job. Henry was quite light to carry up the stairs, my little boss wasn't heavy either so in this respect there wasn't any difference. The cylinder where the dust collected looked a lot bigger on the henry than on my boss, but like I said the weight wasn't much different. I liked the idea that the henry wouldn't have needed emptying as much as the boss did, so my thoughts went onto the performance of this little chap. When I hoover the stairs I like to get into the corners of the carpet on each stair and my little boss has about five different attachments for these various cleaning jobs, having borrowed the henry from next door I only got the ordinary oblong cleaning brush, but this didn't deter me from the job. I could take the end off and the suction was great for getting into the corners of the carpet. There is a rewindable cord for easy storage too. When I took the henry back next door my friend told me that there were other attachments you get with it, so I was now getting interested in one of these for a replacement for my boss. I pay £3.74 for five replacement bags for the boss and have been told that for the henry you get about 10 ba
gs for a fiver. So there's a saving to be had there. On the noise level I think that the henry is deffinately the quietest of the two, sometimes I have been hoovering away and not heard the phone or my neighbour has walked in to catch me singing away at the top of my voice. So the henry could come in handier than the boss in this respect. Now to the price, well here is the big difference. My Moulinex Boss cost me £39.49 at Argo's about two years ago. I have hammered it in these three years as i hoover everyday dure to the fact that I live in the country and tyhere is loads of dust from the fields gets into the house. Not to mention we have coal and wood burning stoves in the house. A Henry costs £119.99 out of the Littlewoods catalogue where I do most of my shopping, so I am presuming they cost around £99.99 in the shops as catalogues are much dearer to buy from. So there is a big difference in the prices of hoovers. Altough the price seems a lot more than the hoover I had , the henry seemed the most economical, the bags were cheaper, it didn't need emptying as much and I have had lots of good reports about the lasting endurance of these henry's. So I think the henry has won the competition.

- 25/02/04 Great review - if and when our dyson dc07 animal (which is actually extremely good!) packs up, henry will be moving in!! |

- 12/02/04 I 'picked up' my Henry for about £69.00 + vat from the local cash 'n' carry warehouse. I love him and the vacuuming is done more often nowadays. |
