There are two things in my household that are always getting broken or ruined, one is the iron and the other is the vacuum cleaner. Over the years I have had countless irons and vacuums, that is until I met Dyson and then Henry. I decided to get a Henry as the commission on my catalouge had built up and I did not know what to get. I had had a Dyson for some time but thought the fact my cleaners were always going wrong, it might be an idea to have a back up. I looked through the catalouge to see what was available and of course, Henry's smiling face was saying "look, try me, I'll be your helper". I worked in a large Public Sector building where the cleaners all used Henry's. I once asked one of them whilst she was working, what she thought of her Henry, (I had once owned a Vax and had not thought much of it), Henry seemed similar. She said she was impressed, it was not very heavy and the fact the lead was easy to wind in, made her job quicker. It also did the job it was supposed to well. She said that if her vacuum at home broke she would definitely get a Henry. We recently had an extention built and I notice the builders were using a Henry to clear up all their debris, stones, bits of wood and concrete etc., I told the builder he would wreck his vacuum using it for that. He told me he had had it for years, it picked up anything that didn't block the hose. Being so impressed with my Dyson, I checked the motor size etc., on Henry and found it was the same. The added bonus was Henry didn't care if what he sucked up was wet or dry, (liquids are something Dyson hates). Henry also didn't care if you put a bag in him or not. This was a big bonus and the reason I initially bought a Dyson. I sent off and he arrived within days. He was easy to assemble and I was up and running in no time. I was surprised how light he actually was and impressed with the length of the hose. He was cert
ainly picking up the bits but I did miss the sweeper bar that you have on uprights. I didn't end up with the pile being brushed up. I wondered how "deep down clean" it was getting the carpets. The stairs were a doddle and he even reached the upstairs landing, something Dyson did not do. We have a real coal fire in the winter and I have used Henry many times to suck out the soot from as far up the chimney as I can reach. It was great. I used a bag for this and there was no mess. If you have a real fire you will know what I mean. I always use Henry to clean out the cars, he gets into all the awkward places. I even used him when the carpets in my car were drenched when I had left the windows open in a storm. All in all, Henry is an excellent worker. He has caused me no problems and has never had to go the the hoover hospital. He does'nt mind getting dirty and cleans up a treat with just a wipe over. His lead winds in nice and smoothly which means you are never unravelling yards of wire because it has got knotted before you start. The only inconvenience is he can't carry his tools around with him, so could do with a utility belt! He's no problem. He's my No.2 with Dyson just pipping him to No1. If you like cylinder type vacuums you wont go far wrong with Henry!

- 02/08/01 Exactly, Julie, 800 is just too few !! It lasts me just over the 4 weeks, and forces me to go once a month, I would rather not be forced as such, the drink is no problem. I always have a 3 course meal for £8 when I'm there which lasts about 3 hours, so is an excellent day out as well !! I can get 200 cigs for £25ish here from the illegal guys but that's not the point, and the saving by going anyway is still worth it. |
