I recently bought a house and as usual it had some really nasty looking carpets, dirty and greasy from years of neglect, accumulated dog hair and food spills. As the entire house had really bad carpets I negotiated £1300 off the asking price as I needed to buy new carpets. BONUS as I own a carpet cleaner! Ok, scenario: two cats, one of which is prone to peeing by doors (don't ask), a 2 year old son, 2 prams, no entrance mat, and a pale beige carpet... Nasty near black smelly patches by front door.
