Advantages: Looks pretty
Disadvantages: Need emptying after every use!
I've had this hoover now for about ten months and as hoover's go - it's about average. My mum offered to buy me a new one last Christmas, as my old one was well old! I spent ages looking online and through catalogs trying to decide which hoover to get and in the end I picked this one mainly because of the colour. Which looking back on it now was probably not the best way to pick a hoover! I also liked this one because it stated that it was lightweight! This is one aspect of the spec which is true - its not that heavy and I can easily get it up and down the stairs even with a bad back. It's also easy to hoover with and can quickly whip round a large room, thanks to its good sized power cord. The cord is long enough to do a large room without a problem but I do struggle to do the stairs but I think this is more to do with the fact that I dont have a plug socket in my hallway!
The disadvantage to having a relatively large cord and having to manually wind it up is the fact that when the hoover is not in use the cable often falls off the hook if you happen to knock/ bump the hoover by accident. To me this is just another small annoyance and a sign of the cheap parts that have obviously been used.
The main reason I describe this hoover as average is because of the fact that it needs emptying so often! I don't have pets or kids but after just hoovering my living room it usually needs emptying. This is a bit of a pain because everytime you empty it the contents go everywhere and you end up with an even bigger mess than you started with. I haven't yet decided whether this is because my carpet malts a lot or whether the hoover is really good and picks up a lot! Either way it is a bit of a hassle - especially when it is also recommended that you wash the filter out once a month. For me this is a lot of unwanted hassle and is something I will definitely consider next time I purchase a hoover. Rather annoyingly it lets you know it's full or the tube is blocked by spurting out everything you have just hoovered out again.
The hoover also comes with an array of small attachments - only one of which I have found to be of any use. This is the one with all of the bristles on it (not sure of it's proper name). This is particulary good for going round the edges near the skirting board. I haven't decided whether this is so good because it sucks up more rubbish or the fact that all of the dirt just sticks to the bristles! When using the attachments the hoover seems to be a lot noisier - I think because the hoover is upright and not right down against the carpet. When hoovering normally the noise is not at all excessive so this is not really a problem.
Overall for the £80 my mum paid the hoover it isn't too bad and is definitely better than my very very old vax - it definitely picks up but just needs emptying a lot! When the hoover is empty it's a joy to hoover with - however this very quickly changes.
Summary: Easy to use but a nightmare to empty

- 11/10/08 Welcome to Dooyoo. I sympathise greatly - shops like Instore and other thrift shops are desperate to shift these models because they are so poorly designed they make good money on them for the general consumer.
Your review could do with more details such as noise, cleaning with the smaller cleaning tools and power cord length as well as price paid. If you update your review please message me. In the meantime however there is a way of improving the empty solution on your Dustmanager:
I ts based on the Purepower model which takes bags. If you can find a repairer or someone that repairs vacuums, they may have a Purepower bag holder they can give you complete with screws. Ive already converted the one that has been given to me in rented accomodation and the pick up is superb now without worry of having to check the bag each time I empty. If you want any more info about this send me a msg or if you update your review.
