Great hoover......if only it would last! (Hoover DM4490)

The cleaning power of this machine is excellent with 4 settings depending on the thickness of carpet. It comes with all the usual attachments- 2 types of brushs, 2 extensions, approximatly 3 metres of hose and 6 metres of mains cable, which are all tucked neatly onto the back of the machine.
Emptying and cleaning the bagless container is easy. Simply remove the front cover by pushing down the small lever on the front of the machine and remove the container. This needs to be cleaned every month by washing it out, then leaving it to dry for 24 hrs.The heppa filter ( underneith the container) also needs to be cleaned regularly in the same way.

Now for the down side.....

As mentioned, the power of the machine is excellent, unfortunatly unless you can run around and vacuum your house in approximatly 10 minutes the machine has a tendancy to overheat rather quickly and cut out. This is then followed by a 20 minute wait while the hoover cools and resets itself. It appears that you can minimise the threat of this by washing out the container more often than once a month, say once a week.
Another minor problem is with the release mechanism that allows the hoover to remain upright. It seems that all the weight of cable, hose and attachments on the rear of the machine are too heavy and occasionally the hoover will drop after being left in its upright position.
Overall a decent performer providing you don't need to do much hoovering.
