I've always owned a Hoover, well nearly always, I did have a quick flirt with another well known competitor, however quickly returned to Hoover.
I now have a DM6213. It is a 2100watt, Power Edge Cleaning, Hepa Filter, Dust Manager Clyclonic Hoover. I have to confess that I don't know what most of that means, however I can confirm that it is a very good hoover. It also claims that it is powerful and light - something that I have to agree with. The power is very good and it is a lightweight unit. The weight is sometimes to the detriment meaning that whilst using the tools on the hose, the hoover can topple over. However, you will only let it do it once, if you get the bruise the size of an orange, as I did!
It is a loud hoover, however, I don't mind this, the louder the better, psychologically I associate the noise with it working harder! I have two irritating cats who leave fur and garden debris everywhere and I can confirm that the hoover gets it all up first time.
The Hoover is easy to take apart to empty and the filter is easy to clean - what more could you ask? In my opinion it needs emptying often, however, I use it frequently and clearly have a messy family!
There are various brushes and tools, including the nozzle with a thin end - just right for cleaning your car between the car seat and the door. There are are four levels of cleaning - Intensive cleaning, short, medium and luxury carpet. I've kept mine on intensive cleaning since I've had it....
The only downside is when you release the hoover from the upright position, it clicks very loudly as if two pieces of plastic are knocking together. It still releases and doesn't cause any problems, therefore I have no concerns.
I can't recall how much I paid for this hoover, however it faired well in comparison with other hoovers.
