I was given this vacuum cleaner by a friend and it was only a few weeks old, so as new. I was looking for a vacuum which had a pet hair setting, as even though we don't have pets I have found them to be better as getting the dirt up.
This vacuum looks great, it is a bit heavier than others I have had in the past, but I haven't found this to be an issue in any way and it does feel very solid and of good quality. It has four different setting for the type of surface you are hoovering. It has a 'lance' which pulls out of the middle and reaches a long way so its very good for doing stairs and getting cobwebs from ceilings etc. The vacuum has a large handle on the back as well so for extra length when using the lance you can hold the vacuum in one hand and use the lance with the other.
It has no bag but is very easy to empty and easy to get to all the cylinder components to clean them. A huge bonus is the length of the cord, I can vacuum my whole downstairs without having to change plug sockets.
We have owned it for around two years now and the only maintenance we have had to do was replacing the drive belt, but this was fairly simple to do by following the instructions in the accompanied manual for it.
The only negative point I do have is that the lance can be easily blocked (we all vacuum up things that really are too big)! Unlike other vacuums which have mainly cylindrical tubes which are easy to unclog, the lance on this is narrow at both ends so you have to use something long and thin to sort it out.
I bought this hoover last month and so far it has been wonderful.
It has various settings on it so that you can use it on a short carpet, a longer carpet, wooden floors but best of all there is a super clean setting which really does seem to work wonders. I had hoovered with my old hoover not long before my new hoover arrived, but of course wanted to try it out when it came and I was amazed at how much it picked up considering i had only just hoovered!
This hoover in particular is brilliant if you have pets!My dog is losing her fur at a rapid rate at the moment and i am hoovering several times a day. You do need to get the hose out to get really into the corners and edges especially with laminate flooring as it all seems to gather in the corners and the hoover isn't wonderful at getting in those.
The Hoover also has a long cord on it which is great from going from say the lounge to the hallway etc without having to find a new plug!
The tools on the hoover are great for cleaning the stairs but it would be nice if it had an extra longer "nozzle" to add on the hoover to get to even harder to reach places. Initially I found it quite difficult to use the hose attachment on the hoover but now i find it really simple. You literally press a button, lift it off and away you go. It is still attached to the main hoover base obviously and although it doesn't stretch massively it is enough to clean your stairs etc.
When emptying the hoover it can be a little bit tricky but this is more to do with having lots of buttons to flick and lift whilst getting the cannister off. It doesn't need empying too often in my opinion and I hoover the full house daily.
I bought the hoover from a catalogue and at the time it was on offer was £99. I found this a reasonable price for the product. I am not sure that i would want to pay much more than that but then i tend to buy lower priced hoovers rather than the dysons etc.
It is a really powerful Hoover and I don't really have any complaints with it other than it is quite heavy and quite noisy- it has a little squeak sometimes but i don't think it is a problem.
An absolute peice of crap. I have had mine less than 6 months, the hose has had to be repaired as it detached from the hoover and the explorer lance has broken because it is of poor quality. The cleaner picks up a woefully small amount of dust before needing to be emptied, the only positive I can think of is the good length of the power cable. Stay away form this product.
