I purchased this one before purchasing the Dyson one. Got it specifically because it was for homes with pets. Absolute rubbish. I wanted an upright for ease of use as all of my new home was carpetted. Cream carpets with 2 balack and white cats and you can imagine how much of their hair showed up. The first couple of uses I though it did brilliantly, much easier than the cyclinder cleaners I had had. The design however I thought was appalling. The hose and the nozzle that are removed for stair cleaning seem to be where the rubbish goes through when the hoover is in normal cleaning mode. The nozzle iis stuck in the base and on my third cleaning attempt I realised it wasn't picking up anything so I got out the manual and started investigating. On removing the nozzle and the hose I realised these were blocked, I hadn't used these for stair cleaning so they had not been removed from their usual position as yet. After spending a good half hour dropping heavy items in and shaking them down the hose and out the other end I removed the blockages. A copious amount of cat and pet hairs! Again I used it and it worked beautifully. The next time it was pulled out I had the same problem! Spent time unblocking again and took back to the shop afterwards. I explained what was happening each use and complained about the design. It was not going to clean without pet hairs clogging up the tube each time and so it was pointless! They agreed to do a part exchange and I went for a DYSON!! I love my Dyson! This Hoover however was rubbish, rubbish design and certainly not designed to go anywher near a home with pets and pet hairs!
After having 2 dyson vacuum cleaners in the last 7 years I decided to purchase a cheaper one this time and see how it went. With 3 small children and a golden retriever and a navy blue carpet my vacuum cleaner is hard worked but a money was tight I decided to take a risk and buy a refurbished one from Ebay. After lots of research I finally decided on the Hoover U3525. It retailed around £100 but the reconditioned one I got for £35. I thought if I have to buy a new one every year then it would still be cheaper than buying a new dyson every 2 or 3 years. When it arrived I was apprehensive as I had never purchased anything this way before. It came by courier in a new box and when I opened it is was like it was brand new. I would new have know it was reconditioned. I couldnt wait to try it out. At 2000 watts it was really strong suction wise and as it has a 6 metre cord I was able to vacuum right throught the lounge diner without having to unplug it and plug it in again. The carpet looked great, next came the stairs and I found that the 3.4 metre hose meant I could clean all 13 stairs which the vacuum was still at the bottom. The turbo brush was a godsend for removing the dog hairs from the stairs and it also comes with a dusting tool and crevice tool as well as an upholstery tool which is great for under the sofa cushions. All the tools have on board storage so they are close at hand and it has 4 floor settings including hard floor which works really well on our laminate flooring in the kitchen. I also find it extremely light at 6.9kg which makes it easy to move and glide over the carpet regardless how deep the pile is. This vacuum doesnt appear to emmit a lot of hot air from the filter but Ido think it is quite noisy compared to the dyson so I avoid vacuuming while the kids are sleeping. This vacuum cleaner does require bags that cost around £3.50 for 5 and they last between 2 and 3 weeks each as it a 4.2 litre capacity. I dont find this a problem. I was really impressed but wondered how it would stand up over time. Now 18 months on I have to say that as long as you keep the filter clean, you just need to wash it quickly by hand and leave it to dry throughly, it still picks up pet hairs and crumbs like the first day I got it. I certain wouldnt be going back to a dyson after this. It is Hoover all the way for me.
Hi everyone and welcome to this review. I just want to warn you all about this absolutely useless piece of rubbish and hopefully save you money. I wish I could give this vacuum 0 stars so much! But unfortunately I have to give it 1:( I bought this two weeks ago from my local electrical store, I thought I had got a bargain for the 50 pounds I had spent and I always try to buy the Hoover brand and thought this was a good deal. Unpacking ********* The box looked very professional and I really thought I had bought a great cleaner. The box was black and had a very classy looking picture of the '''Great"" vacuum I had just purchased. Along the side of the box was all of the Hoover?s features that I will explain later on. Once home I was excited, I don't know why! But I always get excited when I buy a new product. Gosh! I am strange, I just love the whole new smell haha. The hoover came in the box with the handle separate as always. You will need a star head screwdriver to put the handle on (If you do choose to buy this thing). I cannot even bring myself round to calling it a vacuum?. So I will call it a thing. All of the tools were installed and I was ready to get cleaning. The first thing I noticed with this vacuum was the way it was standing up. Well it was leaning backwards. It was hanging backwards like a zombie, I thought I would ignore this and got ready for vacuuming. I pressed that little button to lower the handle and gosh it was hard! I had never experienced this with any other brand. I turned on the cleaner and It started screaming... Honestly! Screaming, not a normal vacuum noise but it was a high pitched scream. Very loud but it seemed to be sucking. The suction the vacuum had was great! I couldn't fault that. It cleaned okay for 5 minutes and then the suction just vanished. I emptied it of the little fluff that was inside and it was sucking again, BUT! 5 minutes later.... No suction, useless piece of junk. My carpets were hardly at all dirty. After a very hard cleaning session this machine was put I the cupboard, it was so hot that I thought it needed a rest, it smelled like melting plastic. Two days later it was time to clean the lounge, plugged it in as normal and then the left wheel popped off! It had only been used on carpet, not hard floors just thick soft carpet. I could not believe it and rushed it back in the box to get a replacement? After all I was sure I had a faulty unit. I took it back and had a replacement on the two year guarantee that I took out thinking I had done something wrong. I got the new one home and set it all up as to the instruction manual. On it went and cleaned pretty well, a bit better than my previous but it still screamed and smelled like it was melting! Then 5 minutes into the cleaning.. Guess what! Yes off popped the right wheel! Not the left but the right this time, Great! I had void my store warranty from the first vacuum. As i had void my two year replacement scheme I had to try and fix it myself, I could not be bothered with calling Hoover to fix it as the representative on the phone was anything but helpful! I told her of the problem and guess what she said, ""That happens all the time, try wood glue"", ridiculous! I was shocked and asked for someone to repair it, but apparently it was a consumable?. Since when has a wheel that is non-replaceable been a consumable? I fixed the wheel myself with the wood glue recommended but then the left one popped off on the next cleaning! and then my repaired wheel, Great No wheels! I had lost all faith in the machine by now and well.. I did kick it more than 5 times, I admit that! But it totally deserved it:) I continued cleaning my carpets with no wheels for about three days when the vacuum decided it no longer wanted to stand up on its own! The whole vacuum falling to the ground when not attended. This resulted in me having a rather bad bang on the head. Which really hurt! OwwwwwL I rang Hoover straightaway but they wanted me to send the whole vacuum back to them for repair. I really did not want to pay the 20 pound delivery fee as I thought it would be repaired only to have it happen again. I had totally given up on this vacuum by then. I just wanted to see the back of it, and that was only a week of use. I carried on vacuuming with this piece of plastic rubbish until it was a week old. I turned it on with a brand new bag in and BANG! Sparks came out and that was the end of it. Goodbye Hoover, I was so glad to see it blow, only a week old and I was sick of it! So much for Hoover... Used to make the best vacuums? Not any more! I found out that they have been taken over since and just check their other vacuum reviews! They are all terrible. The cleaner never stayed upright when using the hose, it constantly smelled of hot plastic and it cut out all of the time even with a new bag in. My house is hardly dirty! My robot vacuum copes so this should have! I am so annoyed with this cleaner, I think I would have been better off buying an unknown brand, Hoover has really gone downhill on their latest cleaners! I wish I had looked at the reviews on this site before buying.. But hey.. I only joined a week ago Just read reviews from other people, there are definately quality problems with these vacuums and I will NEVER buy a hoover product again, unless they sort their problems out! And I seriously recommend you don't either! I have since bought a 20 pound upright from Argos and WOW so much better. Hope this review has helped your decision Nick
I purchased this product the Hoover U3525 at Argos about 4months ago for £99.99.It is currently in the new Argos catalogue for £97.00. This cleaner has a very good suction from a 2000 watts.IT also has an hepa filter which is extremely good for allergy sufferers. It has all the tools on board which is easy fo use, as you don't have to go looking around the house for. The hose is quite long so its great for cleaning the stairs and high places.I Find it great if you need to clean thing like curtains, cupboard and other high places. Its is great for cleaning mattress to get all those creepy dust mites off the bed(by the way every body has them so its good to clean the mattress now and then). When it comes to just using the cleaner as an upright it has a very good cleaning power. I have wooden floors throughout my house with dark coloured rugs scattered around.I have 2 petsJa ack Russell and Yorkshire Terrier. The Jack Russel is white and sheds a lot of hair so you can imagine this on a black rug. This hoover get it all off with ease so it is truly very good for a house with pets. I use it as an all round cleaner and then use the on board tools for the crevices. Also included is a turbo brush ,an upholstery brush, extension tube and crevice tool. The only down side it can be a little heavy to carry if you are a smaller person(no offensive to smaller people)and you have to purchase the buy replacement dust bags. These are also available from Argos £5.89 a pack of 5.
