Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: None yet
My title says it all. Well almost. Hubby (under my commands) went and bought a Hoover V2011. I will start the tale properly. Hubby and I inherited his mothers old hoover when we moved in a to a place or out own. As money was tight and she had just bought herself a nice new one. Two and a half years later it is still going. But things have changed slightly in our house. We now have two house bunnies both with white fur. I thought that old hoover was going ok. Until I tried to hoover up bunny fur. I went over the same area two or three times. To no avail. I emptied the hoover. No more luck. Time for a new one me thinks. Rather than rush off and buy a new one. I browsed dooyoo. Read a couple of reviews about the old style Hoover vortex?s and thought that they would be just the ticket. And I was not going to pay £200 for a dyson which I have heard from many different sources could not be that brilliant some time and never seems to last that long. And the other major thing was I was not going to pay £200 for hoover. I knew that for something decent that I would have to pay in the region of £100. Next I logged on to the comet web site. And smack bang on there home page was the slinky little red number. It was at my price and was the Hoover Brand. I read through their blurb. And it seemed ok. The blurb went along the lines of Lifetime filters you only need to wash and dry and then replace. The filters are hepa class filters out 99.99% of dust 1350 watt motor 2 litre collector And is red in colour. Personally for something that is going to live a cupboard I am not too concerned about the colour of it. It is funky though. Next when we out close to a comet store we looked at it. Picked up a display model and checked to see how easy to remove the dust collector. Seemed to be all ok. We did not have time to buy then. So when hubby had today off. One of
his jobs was to buy the hoover. He said that the person in comet was trying to sell the extended warranty to him. He said no thanks. He got home and unpacked it. And put the handle on. Which as well as being your handle stores the two tubes that use with the hose and brushes. All he needed was to screw in to two screws to make the handle secure. The leaflet that comes with it is very clear and tells you how to put it together. He was under strict instructions not to use it to I got home. (Had a half-day). The On button is very big so could not be missed. It is on top of the machine rather than being on the handle. And is black in colour so that it contrasts with the rest of he machine. Also the cable retracts in to back in the hoover near the base of the handle. So there is no cord laying around. I think that will be the first thing to break. As I have never been that much of a fan of too many moving parts. To me the more moving parts it has more there is to break. It has on aboard tools. And they are on board. The brush pushes in to little holes on the back of the machine especially made for them. It even has little pictures so you know which one to put in which hole. Then came the moment of truth we plugged it in and switched on. It did not make so much noise as the other one. As Dax the bunny did not try climbing the walls. As I hoovered we watched in horror as the collector began to fill. And fill and fill mainly with bunny fur. We only live in a 1 bedroom flat. We filled the container full just doing the living room. And the hallway we then emptied it. I then joked to hubby that I bet he would still get more out two carpets in the areas mentioned above. So he did. Again it began to fill up with; yes you have guessed it bunny fur again. We both looked at each other amazed. He then quickly did the bedroom. Now the collector was a two thirds full. I have never been so shocked/amaz
ed and embarrassed that my carpets where that dirty. I hoover about once a week. As we never drag that much dirty in. And I am not overly house proud but I might be now with my funky red hoover. I would say well worth the £99.85 that we spent on it so that I no longer have white tinged carpets.. The old hoover is nor resigned to the back of the cupboard just in case we ever need it again fingers crossed we will not.

- 21/04/01 Like the enthusiasm for the machine- sounds good.
Only a useful I'm afraid because of the wrong words that slipped in, and made the reading a bit jerky. |

- 10/03/01 I thought nothing sucked like an Electrolux....? :-)
Nice to see Hoover getting a good op, especially after Mr Dyson claimed that the company had pinched his ideas and forced them to stop selling the new range. |
