A couple of months ago I had a young man knock on my door offering me a raffle ticket to win a free car or £6000. Now I am generally not one to give out my phone number to strangers but the young man explained that along with this main raffle there was a complimentary carpet clean offered as their companies way of advertising. So I thought what the hell and gave him my number. I then searched online to see whether I could find anything out about this company. I found a couple of bad reviews but quite honestly they seemed as if they were written by the kind of people who get angry about the slightest thing and wasn't at all phased by this. A couple of days later I got the phone call so I arranged to have my carpet cleaned the following week. When the lad turned up I was immediately impressed. Not only with the machine but also with the high level of professionalism with which he operated. He explained that he was going to demonstrate the uses and advantages of the Kirby machine to me and my partner as we would never see the product in any shops as we had to (and I quote) "See it to believe it!". All sounds very cheesy but he was certainly right! My jaw literally dropped as he showed me the multitude of purposes this one little machine had. It could do everything! My partner agreed, and we decided that we wanted one then and there. The Kirby was of course not cheap, my partner and I aren't exactly millionaires either. We live in an average 3 bed semi, have 3 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cars. So as you can imagine we don't have much spare money! The machine is advertised at £2595 which sounds an awful lot but not really if you consider that with other vacuum cleaners you have to buy a new one every couple of years. plus the extra functions all in one machine saves a lot of money in the long run. The young man left us to think about it while he cleaned the carpet for us, he never once pushed us to make a decision, or tried the 'hard sell' technique that other reviews had warned of. Before purchasing the Kirby we rang my mother-in-law's neighbour who has owned one for 15 years to see whether she felt it had been worth it. She said that she had never once had a problem with it, and encouraged us to get one. We purchased the Kirby for a discounted price, bargained with the Company Director over the phone and haven't regretted spending a penny of it!! I love the Kirby, it saves me so much time and money. Even the kids want to do the housework now! I felt this rather long review was needed as I have heard so much prejudice against this company and what they sell but I honestly think that this is unfair and that they should at least be given a chance.
RJB Distribution Ltd and Kirby cleaners - my warning Okay, so I thought I'd post this review of the 'services' of RJB Distribution to try and stop other people losing hours of their time just like I have... I was at home one day when a man from RJB knocked at my door. He told me he was representing a company that was new to the area and, in return for my phone number, he would enter me into a free prize draw to win a car. There was no selling involved or anything, they were just doing it to promote their new company. What the hell, I thought, I don't usually deal with people at the door but this sounded like a good offer. About a week later, I received a phone call from a very nice lady from RJB Distribution - she told me that I hadn't won the main prize in the draw but that I had won a free carpet clean! I was very happy as I don't usually win anything. But then I remembered - I don't actually have any carpets, only wooden floors. Don't worry, she said, we will clean your upholstery for you instead - we don't want you to miss out on your prize. Again, I asked if there was any catch or any selling involved and the lady assured me that there wasn't - they were just awarding these prizes to promote their company. The big day came for the carpet clean and I was surprised to see two men at my door, carrying a large box. They entered and I showed them to the front room where my sofa was. I then went to leave the room to get on with some work but they said I had to stay. Then they asked where my husband was and, somewhat confused, I told them he was working. They upacked a large vacuum cleaner from the box - I now know it was a Kirby cleaner. Then came the most tedious few hours of my life so far...they launched into a very high pressure sales pitch to try and get me to buy the Kirby for...wait for it....£2,500!!! I was speechless! They tried all the tricks...phoning their boss for a discount...offering me lower and lower prices....telling me the deal was only valid today...telling me how dirty my home was and asking how I could live with so much dust....trying to scare me that all the dust would set fire to my TV...offering me a demonstrator model, etc. etc. They even tried to get me to show them my bedroom so they could hoover the mattress! Anyway, I finally got rid of them after more than 3 hours and they still hadn't cleaned my upholstery! Thinking back, it was obvious that the whole thing was a con. There was no prize draw, it was just a way in to my house to try and con me into buying an overpriced hoover. If I had been forty years older I might have given in and I would have lost £2,500 as well as three hours of my life! Take it from me - DON'T DEAL WITH KIRBY AND DON'T DEAL WITH RJB DISTRIBUTION - JUST SHUT THE DOOR!
Kirby (G6) home cleaning system- The kirby was a brilliant buy and well worth the money,£1500 (approx 10 years ago). It's not just an expensive vacuum cleaner, there is a lot more to it than that. Where shall i start?! Ok, it vacuums my carpets and (on the lower setting) the wooden floor. When u accidentally vacuum something larger than a grain of sand (approx), it stays in the 'boot' at the bottom of the bag- no need to rummage anymore for earings! You can change the height settings for different pile carpets. Although noisy, very delicate on carpet and has never caused damage. Always feel as if the carpets have had a good clean, especially if it's the time of the year for flees!! I use it to deep clean my mattress, but because i do it regularly there is no build up (I don't clean the mattress through the sheets). It is an effort to get the shampooer out but it is easy to place on the cleaning system. The carpet does look fresher afterwards, but i think it helps that i regularly use the Kirby to vacuum. The best part of the shampooing is that the carpet isn't left wet. You can walk on it straight away, it uses a dry foam which leaves it a little damp. Find it a little heavy cleaning the stairs, but it is worth the effort because the carpet looks so clean. Have had it serviced yearly and it is still going strong!!
I have had a kirby for 5 months and they seem great on the outset. One day my kirby decides to have asurge in power and pulls up an eighteen inch thread from a flat carpet and threadbares my carpet completly. Being a large company you think I would have been treated fairly but no. I send e mail to explain my problem and I am ignored, I send a second and i am told a representative will contact be shortly to look at the problem , un-beknown by this kind soul at head office I have already had the franchise who sell your kirby knock my door , puff his chest out and act intimidating as I have "missed a payment" and was going to " take my kirby away from me" Funny that already paid over 400 pounds and yet he can waltz in and take my property away without a question , so much for compnay integrity. Once the gentleman had realsied ther was in fact a bigger problem he took some pictures and muttered that some one would be in contact. ... No you guessed it No one was. So I had to contact again this time explaining I would go to a solicitors and a kind man at Kirby headquarters tells me that he will sort it out and someone will contact me. No one called. So I spoke again and eventually an apologetic man takes my kirby away for tests and i will be contacted the next day to let know how it is progressing.NO CALL. I wait a week NO CALL I speak to the kind man at Kirby who assures me he will sort it and he will call back and the franchise will call NO CALL. I call the franchise and am told by the manager has been in interviews all day and will call me back and NO CALL. This is another week since and you see a pattern here... NO CALLS NO NOTHING NO KIRBY. So I writing this and will be seeing a solictor as I have been treated badly , I have had the run around, had bully boy tactics, have no hoover , am hundreds of pounds owed and HAVE A RUINED CARPET. All I wanted was a nice house not a headache I would have bought Anadin who by the way i do endorse.
I have never heard anything good about Kirby's sales approach, I'm sure it works OK for the american market, but the british who tend to work on a more suspicous level when it comes to high pressure commision driven sales people is never going to work, we don't like all this good morning sir are you having a nice day by the way that's $300. The british tend to work on here it is, this is what it does, and it costs £x I do understand why they sell it the way they do most people wouldn't even look when they knew the price, however an upmarket selling approach through specialist shops like Bose or maybe through exclusive retailers Like Harrods or John lewis would work better. There will always be people who will pay an exclusive price for an exclusive product and I think this is Kirby's niche market, you only have to look at the american range of fridge freezers sold in harrods like Maytag we love them there bigger and brasher than the understated british size fridges and we buy them in droves and they cost 10 times more than an electrolux, and Kirby I have no doubt would be the same if there reputation hadn't been tarnished by there sales techniques . Everyone is bored of the flimsy plastic dyson shite the only other hoover on the market that makes you believe in it is the new Miele upright. Anyway to the point in question is the Kirby any good? Yes it's fantastic it's robust durable and only having owned it for 3 weeks I believe in it, buy it off of E-bay spend as much as you can afford it's great!
the kirby hoover is as stated "the best on the market". These little monsters have been around since 1914 and and were invented by an english man named james kirby. They are now produced by the scottsfetzer company in ohio america where they have been since day one of production. The company is now owned by warren buffet one of the richest men in the world . The machine is made of light weight dicast aluminium and packs a measly 600 watt sealed motor (dysons etc have and average 1200 watt motor) this means no dust can get in to the motor meaning no loss of suction and longer life of the motor the bag wich comes with these hoovers is known as a hepper 11 meaning they have 11 layers of hepper filter per bag (dyson has 1) this filters dust down to 0.1 of a micron (a strand of hair is 3 microns wide) this is allso the reason that this hoover is medicaly sertified to help with asthema and skion conditions this is allso due to the machine beeing able to clean to a depth of 12 inch wich means this cleans all the way through your matress i allso hear that if you call irn bru (the pop company) and say you spilt irn bru on your carpet they advise you to have a home demo from a kirby rep and ask them to clean the carpet it is on
If you see the Kirby and you don't buy it you are a filthy pig !! The salesman proved to me in 10 minutes it would get ALL the dirt out of my carpets, that I paid $6000 for. I for one don't want to buy new carpets ever 7-12 years when my kirby will keep them clean and stop them from wearing out. The machine cleans my kids mattresses of dust mites and also shampoos the carpet better than a so called "con man" professional carpet cleaner !! Get real ! Who can get dirt out of carpet by shooting it with hot water ?? That makes mud, mud doesn't float, it stays deep in the carpet to dry, turn back into dust and start wearing my carpet out.... You'll spend $3000 on a bloody plasma but you won't protect your family or the investment you have in your floor coverings and soft furnishings ? You pig !!!
Kirby offer a yearly maintenance contract, this year the mechanic brought along a sales rep who pushed my parents into buying a new Kirby hoover. My parents initially told him they did not want a new hoover, but eventually gave in to the salesman who refused to take no for an answer and eventually they yielded 'just to get him out of the house'! The new hoover cost over £1200 and my parents were so embarrassed that they had fallen for the salesman's aggressive selling tactics that they did not inform their children until very recently when we were told that the home help had fallen down the stairs trying to use the new hoover. The sales rep said it would be easier to use than the old one as the new one had some sort of self-propulsion; six months down the line they have only used it four times, it is too heavy for my mother to use, she is nearly 80 and they feel ripped off. I have taken this up with Kirby as I feel they have been victims of inappropriate selling. Kirby's response was that they can't discriminate against the over 80's when selling their products! I had thought Kirby to be a reputable company but am now left feeling that they use heavy sales tactics on elderly people and wouldn't recommend anyone let their sales reps in! Needless to say I shall be taking this to 'Which', 'You and Yours'etc...........watch this space Kirby!
After working for the company for two years and having one myself i found this machine amazing. YES it is very expensive however i have had one in the family now for 12 years and for that time i have never had to repair anything and only had to pay for bags!!! The old kirbys used to be very heavy to push due to the dia cast aluminium they are made off however with the new kirby's they have a autodrive system making the kirby very light and easy to use. YES you do get pushy salesman and i think you get that at all sales companies however most of us let the machine do the talking in a demo. I never got cancellations and i still have customers ringing me 5 years on to have a chat and let me know how there getting on. I don't work for the company now but I never felt guilty for selling these machines as the demonstrations shows and through personal use nothing else compares to them. Yes a dyson is cheaper but for all of the dyson owners out there, all you have to do is look into the cylinder when its full and you can see your carpet cut to shreds. Your just throwing your money away. Out of all the demonstrations i found dyson were the worst manafactured machine you could find, cheap and tacky plastic but people buy them because they are colourful and popular!!! Kirby have done a fantastic job and i could not live without one.
I had the most dreadful experience trying to be "suckered" into buying a Kirby G6. Now, I'll be the first to say that it looks like a wonderful product. And had the salesman treated me with respect, I may have bought one. I was approached and offered a demonstration at my home. "It won't take more than an hour", they said. They arrived at 7:00 pm (after I had just got home from a long day at work. But I thought, what the heck, I'll take a look at it. After the demonstration was over, it was almost 10:30 pm! Then came the really good part. The G6 was offered to me at the wonderful price of $2,200! I told them that was the craziest thing I'd ever heard so the price went down immediately to $1,500. Well, I thought I was getting a good deal until I did some research on the internet and realized that some people had paid on $900 for the same exact product (new - not rebuild). I called my salesman and he immediately offered to sell me the G6 for $900. How kind :) At this point, i felt that my intelligence had been insulted and told the to come and pick it up. Well, low and behold, when they came to pick it up, the price offered then was $595 - add insult to injury!! What an amazing deal, huh? At that point, I had no idea what the G6 was worth and asked them to take it away. You can't try to steal money from people (although legally, it was not ethical) and expect them to do business with you. Kirbless and happy, jen
My parents have a Kirby. Big, heavy monster it is. But in a house with two kids and a mud-loving labrador, it worked better than the alternatives. They only stopped using it because it was too heavy. The weight alone put me off buying one for a few years - but when we bought a house that had been used as a builder's crash pad, the entire place was so filthy that every other cleaner we tried, simply didn't deliver the goods. I can't help wondering if there's some kind of knack the salesmen use to demonstrate the kit - when we had the GSix demo'd at our house, the results were astounding. It lifted out so much concrete dust, sand and mud out of the carpet, we discovered for the first time that the front room carpet (a Wilton) actually had a three-tone pattern to it! We've never yet managed to replicate this process so spectacularly, but there is still no doubt about how good it is - even in standard vac mode, the Kirby runs rings round every other cleaner we've ever had. Kirby have obviously listened to concerns about the weight of the machine. The latest ones have powered drives on them - simply put it in gear, and cough. instantly, it becomes as manoeuvrable as a Flymo on a hillside. Even my 6 year old son can push it around the front room. You still have the weight problem when lugging the monster up and down the stairs, but I'd defy anyone to tell me they've had any cleaner that could wipe the floor with a Kirby. As for the cost of accessories - do me a favour! ANY *foaming* carpet shampoo (1001 for example) works fine with it. don't buy the foam-free (3-in-1) stuff because that will NOT work. We pick up our replacement hoover bags up down the local market for absolute peanuts, so even those cost roughly the same as bags for any other upright. And if you've been "pressured" into signing up for one against your best judgement - m ore fool you. Of course, salesmen will sit in your front room until your give them a compelling reason to leave, this does NOT mean you have to sign up, and (for UK residents anyway) you have a statutory right to cancel so long as you do so within 14 days. You can be really nifty with this - convince them before they even start that you want one, get them to shampoo your carpet, sign on the dotted line, and then cancel during the cooling-off period.
I used to sell Kirby vacuums.... just for a short period-- 2 weeks. But that was long enough for me to learn all about their tricks and scams. I was taught to try to sell the Kirby at around $1700- $1900. BUT, the price could be negotiable down to about $900!!!!! So, to let everyone know out there, interested in buying a KIRBY, don't pay more than $1000 for it!!! If you are, all the extra money you're paying, goes right into the pocket of your salesperson. WHAT A RIP OFF!!! don't get fooled!!!!!
The Kirby... ...Vacuum cleaner of folklore. Can it be true? A domestic cleaner costing over £2000? Who'd pay that? Do you know anyone who has one? Yup - me! But here's the secret - I bought it on ebay (sorry Mr Kirby Salesman - but when they're available for less than £500 and if the machine is, as you say, designed to last a lifetime, then how can you argue your way out of that one? Oh, and the warranty is transferable and for £130 they'll do a complete refurb with no hidden costs). The phrase that springs to mind is "Gotcha" OK, let's rewind. In my lifetime I have sat through three kirby demonstrations. O, so the first was when I was five years old and all I remember is that the salesman's trousers split, so I guess that doesn't count. I do remember a particularly ghastly pictue of a dust mite (magnified 60 billion times or something) that caused me sleepless nights for a couple of weeks - but I digress. The other two demonstrations have been in the last couple of years. On both times I have been hugely impressed by the cleaning qualities of the machine and its versatility. The salesmen do go on a bit, but if you enter the spirit of it you'll have fun and, at the end of the day, they'll stay happy too. The most amusing piece of the first demonstration was that our house had wooden floors throughout and the only "carpet" was a rug which cost £150, so I was hugely amused by the bloke trying to get me to part with almost 15 times the cost of the rug. Still, it got a free shampoo, bless. The second demonstration was in our new old house which has more carpet that Allied Carpets. After much haggling we managed to get them down to £1400 for a new gsix or £1250 for a ex-training model - so if you haggle, it can be done. We did not bite though. Instead we bought a Gsix for less than £500 through eb ay and are more than happy with it So what's so good about the Kirby? Well, before I get into that I want to point out that the Gsix is now a discontinued model. The Ultimate G is the latest and, allegedly, the last for a couple of years. Anyway, back to the benefits: The kirby is not just a vacuum. It will also shampoo your carpets polish wooden floors (extrra attachment required, cost about £80) inflate things that need,er, inflating and most importantly (I love this bit) it has a light on the front so you can finally vacuum with the lights off. Yippee! It also does other stupid things like sanding and so on, but who cares. Basically you are buying a very well engineered motor with a variety of attachments. Quite frankly if the fact that it can massage your shoulders sways you to part with £2000 then give me a call, I've got some grass clippings going cheap at £50 a blade. So is it any good? Oh yes. It is widely regarded as the best vacuum on the market. And I have to say that of all the vacuums I have watched my wife push around the house (come on guys, let's be honest), it is the best. We have inherited a disgusting (and I mean disgusting) carpet when we moved in. It was beige. Well, it was beige once. When we move in it was more like brown with the occasional black splat. Three weeks after getting the kirby and one shampooing session later, it's back to beige (okay, not spanking new). Incredible. The weight. One of the common complaints levelled at the kirby is that it weighs more than the Forth Road Bridge. We compared the weight of it against our old standard vacuum and the kirby weighed considerably less. What's more, when you switch it on there is a clever "drive" facility you can engage which actually pushes and pulls the machine in the direction you want. Think of it as power steering for a vacuum. It isby far the lightest vacuum &qu ot;in action" I have ever used. Each vacuum is supplied with a video explaining how to use it, and a neat cupboard tidy for the attachments. Ergonomically you'll either love it or hate it. It's shiney, a bit like the floor polishers they used to use on the gym floor at school but hey, it's a vacuum. It cleans up MUCK. You don't put it on display when you're not using it do you? A shovel wouldn't win a beauty contest would it? From a price point of view it is expensive for a one off hit. Over the course of you're life though, if you estimate a good quality vacuum lasts around five years and costs around £250-£300 then assuming you buy five hoovers in a lifetime, then that's most of the cost recovered. On top of that, the carpet shampoo would save you about £100 every couple of years (be that the cost of a professional or buying/renting a machine) and then on top of that you have the additional lifespan of your carpets. So I reckon, it more than pays for itself, but obviously not as much as Mr, Kirby would claim. I'm not going to et into the sales technique - I'll let you discover the joys of that. But remember a couple of things. If they can smell a sale they will come down in price. Their final price is not their final price. Be interested, be concerned and appreciative of them and their product and they'll respect your bank balance. And if possible, get the demonstration toeards the end of the month - that's when their targets start to come home to roost and you an have a lot of fun. Finally, if you want a great game to play during the sales process, here's two: 1. Before the Kirby salesman arrives, each of you pick a location somewhere in the world that you think the current sales promotion is for. Whoever is the closest wins 2. Each of you guess how many times the salesman will mention the holiday during the presentation. Ah, the kirby. Great vacuum. Great fun. Buy it on ebay
I agree that the tatics Kirby use are awful!! They knock on your door offering you a free carpet shampoo, then they arrange an appointment and come aand try and sell you a Kirby!!! Normally the sales pitch lasts about 3 hours!! My boyfriend worked for Kirby for about 2 months!! At first he thought it was brilliant!! The offer excellent pay. The first couple of weeks were amazing!!! But when he had to start going into people homes, he hated the fact that they didn't know what was coming!! As my boyfriend doesn't like to rip people off he shampoo their hole carpet, and not just one area! He also tried to get out as soon as possible if the customer wasn't interested!! But the managers want you to phone them when you start and when you finish!! Your supposed to be there for 2 hours at least!! He managed to stick it out for 5 weeks I think. The hours were ridiculous!! He had to work from 9am until 10pm some nights and this wa 6 days a week. Then he quit. Kirby had promised him £600 for the training!! He did complete the training!! And we never saw any money!!!! He got paid £200 whilst working there, but we never saw the other £400!!! We phoned them on numerous occasions, and they just said they'd ask the accountants and get back to us-which they never did!!! Anyway, about the machine!!!!! I cannot fault it!! It is amazing, however very overpriced at just under £2000!!! It does now have a tech drive function, which reduces the problem of it being heavy, however it tended to keep running over my feet!!! It still doesn't get rid of the problem of trying to get it upstairs!! I'm 19 and I found it hard!! Apart from that it's brilliant and my house was spotless whilst my boyfriend was working there!! I'd reccomend one if you have lots of time and money!!!!
I use to work for this company and although I do not agree with their selling techniques, I can not fault there ability to produce brilliant machines. Over the years they have focused on producing a machine that can almost fullfill any aspect of house hold cleaning. I was very impressed with their machine and I am going to referre to it as a machine as it is against there policy to call it a vacuum. I worked briefly for them, for only a couple of weeks. This, I would like to state was not because of their products but because of their attitudes and pushy sales people. I was employed by them as a sales rep, but left, because everything they taught me was a lie. This machine can not be bought in shops, but only by arranging a home visit. This will put a lot of people off, but for the price (when I get to it) you will understand why they operate this system. I will include information at the end of this op as to how you can arrange a viewing/demonstration of this product, if you wish. Please be warned though, some of the reps are very pushy. ****************************GENERAL INFORMATION**************************** This machine is designed to eliminate the need of any other cleaning device in your home. It is a very versatile product, that any home would benefit from, if the price allows. Over the years they have improved the model and that is why it is now called the generation six. It is the original model, been made over six times. The company is well established now, and they are based in America. They have offices all around the world, and they operate in 77 countries. The company has been on the go for about 77 years as well, so that tells you that the product must be a winner! When you enquire about this product, you will be told they operate a home demonstration system. This is simply because they think that if you saw this product advertised on the television you would think it was trick photography! They will arrange to come to your home and give the carpet of your choice a free shampoo. This is a good deal, but I will warn you it can take them upto four hours to give the demonstration and shampoo your carpet, so please be warned! **********************************THE PRODUCT****************************** The machine looks very stylish. It is made from dye-cast alliminium, which makes it very durable and it has a lot of plastic attatchments. It has two main heads, both made from the dye cast alliminium, which are easily changeable for your needs. One is a vacuum head and the other is the shampooer. On the front of the machine there is a little headlight. This is a built in feature that automatically turns on, when the machine is in use. They say it is so that you can see when you are vacuuming in akward areas. It is a handy liitle extra, that other companies have not yet thought of! Everything fits together easily, with a lift on/off and turn action. The bags are made of cotton material and some a re supplied with the product. Replacements have to be purchased through the manufacturers, but this is easily done. All of the plastic attatchments are made from neoprene plastic. For all of you who don't know what I am talking about, this is the plastic that NASA work with. This material is very strong, light and extremely hard wearing. For the money that you pay for this product you will be supplied with the following items: *The upright vacuum + Head. This looks and works like an ordinary vacuum, but the head is detachable to allow you to swop it for the shampooing head. The heads lift off and click on. There is a safety switch that the heads activate when they are correctly attatched. The machine will not turn on if the heads are not in the correct position. *The shampooing head and shampoo. The shampooing head is the same size as the vacuum head, but it has a plastic tube an d a plastic tray attatched. You pour the shampoo and water into the place provided and fick the switch to on. The shampoo travels along the pipe and is dispensed through the tray at the bottom, which runs along your carpet. *A plastic hose. The plastic hose allows you to attatch the extras to the machine. It is very flexible and very long. It makes it easy to get into the awkward areas without having to stretch. *A pet hair brush. This attatches to the plastic hose or the plastic tubes. It easy lifts and removes pet hairs from your car/carpets/furniture ect.. It works with a rotary system. *A plastic sprayer. If you have a stain that needs to be soaked out, then this is the gadget for you. It allows you to control the amount of liquid that you apply to your furniture. It can also be used to re spray your car, it is that powerful. I have seen this in action but have not done it myself! *A hard floor cleaning head. This attatchment is ideal for laminate flooring and tiles. It runs on little rollers so that it is not being dragged along your floors, it rolls. This illiminates scratches. *Plastic attatchments for ceiling cleaning. The plastic pipes that are supplied allow for you to clean awkward areas such as ceilings, skirting boards, along the top of pictures and cabinets and it fits inbetween furniture and walls, so that you do not have to move all you settees out to clean down the side of them. *A handle to turn it into a hand held portable. The handle that allows this to be an upright machine is detachable, allowing you to turn it into a hand held cleaner. This makes it much easier for cleaning the beds and carrying it upstairs. *A plastic carry case for the attatchments. All of the attatchments supplied fit inside a carry case. It has a velcro fastener for the pipes and holes for the tubes, everything else fits inside. It has to screw hol es on the back, so that you can attatch it to the back of a door or onto a wall. *Wooden floor polisher. This also works with laminate flooring aswell as original floor boards. It will highly polish your floors, leaving them looking like new. *Hand held sander. This works just like a normal hand held sander. The sand paper is also supplied. It not only cleans but it will help you with your DIY. *Massager. You also get a massager pad, that attatches to the cleaner to provide you with a stress reliever as well as a cleaner. Not many people would like a massage off there vacuum cleaner, but this one will allow you to have one if you wish! ******************************EASE OF USE*********************************** On the whole this product is very easy to use once you have learnt how it all fits together. When you first look at it and all it's attatchments it is a little daunting, but once you have removed the head once and replaced it, it is very easy to do. All the attatchments fit together easily, and they have a screw action to them. The plastics are very durable and easy to handle. They are also incredibly light. It doesn't matter how tight you screw the plastic pipes/tubes togetrher, you will always be able to release them from each other, because the plastics are designed to give a strong grip with little effort. The shampooer is the easiest system I have ever come across and used. Once the head is attatched and the shampoo and water has been measured and poured into the machine, the machine does all the hard work for you. To sucessfully shampoo a carpet with this machine you have to leave the shampoo on for about an hour or so. It does not leave your carpets soggy though. As soon as you have finished shampooing, you can walk on the carpet you have shampooed and it is nearly touch dry. To finish the process you simply change the heads and vacuum as you would normally. < br>The hard floor cleaning head is also very easy to use. I have a laminate floor and have always got on my hands and knees to clean it. I usually use a little dust pan and brush to remove the bits and then a cloth to add shine. This attatchment does all of this. It is very light and the wheels that it runs on, are so small you think they aren't there. This means that it is very close to your floor but not actually touching. The suction is that strong, that it cleans very profesionally. It is very light and easy to use. It requires no effort from you what so ever. The pet hair brush works brilliantly. It operates on a rotary system which means that the head is turning in three different motions. The helps to loosen the hairs, lift them and remove them. The bristles are very stiff, but do not snag or pull at your furniture. If you turn the machine on and hold this on your hand, you can feel the three different movements. It tickles, but it is a very effective attatchment. The sprayer comes with a universal nozzel, so that if you were to respray your car, you could put the paint into a jam jar and attatch it to the machine. being able to do this means you can save the plastic canister so that it doesn't get ruined. This device is excellent for painting fences and cars because the sheer power eliminates the hard work. You can also use the sprayer to apply shampoo to certain areas of your settee or carpets, so that you can control the amount you apply. The sander is also easy to use as it is just like any other hand held sander you would buy from a DIY shop. The good thing here is that it also removes all the dust at the same time as it is sanding. Meaning the job gets done without all the mess. It is ideal for sanding furniture, walls, ceilings and almost any other surface. The wooden floor polisher allows you to polish your floors to a high shine finish. it can be used on laminate flooring and orignal floor boards. It is eas y to operate and it gives very good results. The weight of the machine is a little heavier that others, but it's cleaning abilities are endless. If you have to carry this machine upstairs you will know about it, which is why I recommend you turn it into a hand held cleaner, before you go upstairs. It makes lifting it a little less of a struggle. All the attatchments are very light though, so it is just the dye - cast alliminium body that holds the weight. *************************************PRICE********************************** When I worked for this company the price was £1,899. If you wanted one and complained at the price to the managers on the telephone, they were willing to come to a deal with you. In some cases the price could be knocked down to £1,300, but I am not suppose to tell you this, so ssshhhh! ****************************WHERE CAN I GET ONE***************************** If you go to the website, you can read about this product and the company. You can also arrange for a demonstrator to come round and give you the run down on this machine. Like I said earlier, they do not advertise this product on TV, because they believe that you wouldn't believe in it's cleanng abilities, which is why they like to arrange a home visit. Please allow at least a couple of hours for this visit, as they will gladly shampoo a carpet of your choice for free, as a thank you for allowing them into your home. There si no obligation to buy, but they do ask that you can supply names and numbers of others that would like a free carpet shampoo. The website that you need to go to is http://www.kirby.com **********************************MY OPINION******************************** This is the best house hold cleaning product I have ever come across, but the big let down is the price. In this case though I have to say that you get what you pay for. The machine is solid, reliable, comes with a lifetime guarantee, is easy to use, provides visible results and looks stylish, on top of all of that. As a demonstrator you have to show the customer what the machine is capable of and this is achieved by comparing it to the machine that the customer already uses. To do this, we have to set up little tests for the two machines to tackle. The first is the salt test. The demonstrator will pour salt over an area of your carpet and ask you to clean it up with your normal vacuum cleaner. When you have done this, the demonstrator will then go over the same area with the Kirby. They will then show you what your regular vacuum has left behind. Believe me when I tell you the results are astounding. The second test is the matress test. The demonstrator will ask if they can vacuum one of your beds. If you allow them, they will show you the amount of dirt that your matress holds. I know that we do not really want to see what we are sleeping on, but the results are very surprising. I class myself as a clean person and regularly vacuum all the beds in my house. When I got my Kirby home, the bed was the first thing I did. I flet pysically sick at the amount of dirt it removed. My regular vacuum was doing nothing compared to the Kirby. I know that from reading this opinion you are probably thinking that this sounds too good to be true. I don't blame you, I thought the same. That was until I started working for them and saw for myself how powerful this cleaner really is. Any other vacuum is left looking useless compared to this one. The price is a little too high for most people though, but when you are told you will never have to buy another vacuum cleaner for the rest of your life, it makes you think. You are definately getting a top piece of machinery, that comes with a life time guarantee. If anything breaks or stops working, they will replace or mend it, no questions asked. What other company offers this? From reading this yo u will see that I am very enthusiastic about this machine. I stopped working for them because of the way they conduct their business not because their product doesn't work. It really, really does. The website is worth a look if you are thinking of purchasing one of these, as it will provide you with all the information that you need, but unfortunately you are not able to just purchase one. A demonstrator must call. On the whole an excellent product, but I feel the company needs to change their selling techniques. Their product is the best on the market, but only being able to buy one if you have a home visit is a bit of a pain. I have rated this product four stars, becuse althoug it is an excellent product the price is out of a lot of peoples reach!
