Kirby (G6) home cleaning system- The kirby was a brilliant buy and well worth the money,£1500 (approx 10 years ago). It's not just an expensive vacuum cleaner, there is a lot more to it than that. Where shall i start?! Ok, it vacuums my carpets and (on the lower setting) the wooden floor. When u accidentally vacuum something larger than a grain of sand (approx), it stays in the 'boot' at the bottom of the bag- no need to rummage anymore for earings! I have never heard anything good about Kirby's sales approach, I'm sure it works OK for the american market, but the british who tend to work on a more suspicous level when it comes to high pressure commision driven sales people is never going to work, we don't like all this good morning sir are you having a nice day by the way that's $300. If you see the Kirby and you don't buy it you are a filthy pig !! The salesman proved to me in 10 minutes it would get ALL the dirt out of my carpets, that I paid $6000 for. I for one don't want to buy new carpets ever 7-12 years when my kirby will keep them clean and stop them from wearing out. The machine cleans my kids mattresses of dust mites and also shampoos the carpet better than a so called "con man" professional carpet cleaner !! Get real ! My parents have a Kirby. Big, heavy monster it is. But in a house with two kids and a mud-loving labrador, it worked better than the alternatives. They only stopped using it because it was too heavy. The weight alone put me off buying one for a few years - but when we bought a house that had been used as a builder's crash pad, the entire place was so filthy that every other cleaner we tried, simply didn't deliver the goods. I used to sell Kirby vacuums.... just for a short period-- 2 weeks. But that was long enough for me to learn all about their tricks and scams. I was taught to try to sell the Kirby at around $1700- $1900. BUT, the price could be negotiable down to about $900!!!!!
