Advantages: does clean the carpet well
Disadvantages: the price and the 'extras' you have to fork out for
Like Catawall, I to have a kirby. The joke when I bought it was I had just spent £100 on a 'new' car and then £1000 on this vac! The salesman does make you think you are the dirtiest family on this earth. They even do a patch of your materess and show you the dead skin. YUCK. At the time I bought mine, Dyson and the supper suction machines were not on the market. I had a vax and it was awful at washing the carpet so thought this would be a 'bargin'. They con you into paying the yearly contact which gives you a 'free' service at the end of the year. Thee is always some part that needs replacing and the service guy always tells me that the band needs changing. Unlike normal vacs, the bands on kirbys strech and need replacing often (?). I also have a dyson which I bought recently second hand as the kirby used to kill my back when trying to take it upstairs. What I would like to know is how do they justify the price?

- 22/08/05 Dysons do not last nor do the job the same. I have two of them and a Kirby. I bought the Dysons first. My circa 1980 Kirby is better than both my Dysons. |

- 21/03/04 Yep, I think a Dyson will do the job just as well, we've got two and there are no complaints. |
