I have had a kirby for 5 months and they seem great on the outset. One day my kirby decides to have asurge in power and pulls up an eighteen inch thread from a flat carpet and threadbares my carpet completly. Being a large company you think I would have been treated fairly but no. I send e mail to explain my problem and I am ignored, I send a ... Read the complete review

I have never heard anything good about Kirby's sales approach, I'm sure it works OK for the american market, but the british who tend to work on a more suspicous level when it comes to high pressure commision driven sales people is never going to work, we don't like all this good morning sir are you having a nice day by the way that's $300. the kirby hoover is as stated "the best on the market". These little monsters have been around since 1914 and and were invented by an english man named james kirby. They are now produced by the scottsfetzer company in ohio america where they have been since day one of production. The company is now owned by warren buffet one of the ... Read the complete review

If you see the Kirby and you don't buy it you are a filthy pig !! The salesman proved to me in 10 minutes it would get ALL the dirt out of my carpets, that I paid $6000 for. I for one don't want to buy new carpets ever 7-12 years when my kirby will keep them clean and stop them from wearing out. The machine cleans my kids mattresses of dust mites ... Kirby offer a yearly maintenance contract, this year the mechanic brought along a sales rep who pushed my parents into buying a new Kirby hoover. My parents initially told him they did not want a new hoover, but eventually gave in to the salesman who refused to take no for an answer and eventually they yielded 'just to get him out of the house'! ... After working for the company for two years and having one myself i found this machine amazing. YES it is very expensive however i have had one in the family now for 12 years and for that time i have never had to repair anything and only had to pay for bags!!! The old kirbys used to be very heavy to push due to the dia cast aluminium they are ... Read the complete review

I had the most dreadful experience trying to be "suckered" into buying a Kirby G6. Now, I'll be the first to say that it looks like a wonderful product. And had the salesman treated me with respect, I may have bought one. I was approached and offered a demonstration at my home. "It won't take more than an hour", they said. ... My parents have a Kirby. Big, heavy monster it is. But in a house with two kids and a mud-loving labrador, it worked better than the alternatives. They only stopped using it because it was too heavy. The weight alone put me off buying one for a few years - but when we bought a house that had been used as a builder's crash pad, the ... Read the complete review

I used to sell Kirby vacuums.... just for a short period-- 2 weeks. But that was long enough for me to learn all about their tricks and scams. I was taught to try to sell the Kirby at around $1700- $1900. BUT, the price could be negotiable down to about $900!!!!! So, to let everyone know out there, interested in buying a KIRBY, don't pay ... Read the complete review

The Kirby... ...Vacuum cleaner of folklore. Can it be true? A domestic cleaner costing over £2000? Who'd pay that? Do you know anyone who has one? Yup - me! But here's the secret - I bought it on ebay (sorry Mr Kirby Salesman - but when they're available for less than £500 and if ... Read the complete review

I agree that the tatics Kirby use are awful!! They knock on your door offering you a free carpet shampoo, then they arrange an appointment and come aand try and sell you a Kirby!!! Normally the sales pitch lasts about 3 hours!! My boyfriend worked for Kirby for about 2 months!! At first he thought it was brilliant!! The offer excellent ... Read the complete review

I use to work for this company and although I do not agree with their selling techniques, I can not fault there ability to produce brilliant machines. Over the years they have focused on producing a machine that can almost fullfill any aspect of house hold cleaning. I was very impressed with their machine and I am going to referre to it as a ... We suffered the kirby experience, but fought off the salesmen after about three and a half hours ! This was about 5 years ago and I hear they have not changed (although they are now even more desperate to sell). I will say now and up front, I would rather suck the bed bugs out of my matress with my own lungs than ever have anything to do ... Read the complete review

I worked as a demonstrator for Kirby for a short time, demonstrating the G5 and the G6 when it came out. It was certainly not the nicest job I've ever done, but that's another story entirely. At the time I had a Dyson and after comparing it to that I decided I would have to save up for a Kirby of my own. I was lucky enough acquire a ... Read the complete review

Many of the existing opinions are about the sales pitch rather than the machine itself and since I was given mine I thought an opinion unbiased by the feelings of having spent an inordinate amount of money on a vacuum cleaner might be useful. The Kirby was passed on to me by my ageing Aunt who found it impossible to use because of the ... Read the complete review

Ho hum what can I say about Kirby cleaners.......well they are a fantastic ‘hoover’ to coin a phrase. They clean your carpets, curtains, beds, windows, work surfaces, cars, patios, strip wall paper yes I kid you not! The Kirby vacuum cleaner is made in Cleveland Ohio in USA and imported to Reditch in Britain by the Kirby Company. That is virtually their only dealing with the sales of the product in the UK. The machine is basically a vacuum cleaner (+ hose attachments) that can be transformed to shampoo, polish, spray, sand etc (and on earlier models ... Read the complete review

Ok- these guys are sharks. I quit after a few days as do most sane people. No one here had been with the company more than 2 and a half months. It's a scare sell and works in (amazingly enough) 1 out of 3 homes. The sale is made in the bedroom when they vacuum your matress. It is hugely overpriced which allows them to play with the figures- ... Read the complete review

I'll admit that I am an owner of a Kirby and that I only bought one because my husband sold them for 2 weeks! On the whole, it is a very good hoover (sorry, KIRBY), but when I think what else I could spend my £55 a month on I could cry. When the demonstration is done it's very effective, especially when they use the machine to ... Read the complete review
