Advantages: Cleans brilliantly, quiet
Disadvantages: Bag full indicator not very reliable
This is undoubtedly the best vacuum cleaner I have ever owned - and I have been through a few.
I bought this having found that a previous dyson didn't seem to be picking up the dirt properly. I read the reviews I could find, and it seemed to be highly recommended by "Which". It is very similar to the cat and dog Miele but with different brush attachments. There is also a hepa filter, ideal for allergy sufferers.
The cleaner is easy to manouvere, quiet and quite simply does the job beautifully. There are 6 different noise/suction levels. The "quiet" setting is good if you have easily woken/scared small children.
On using the vacuum is not heavy to cart around and glides beautifully. There are some smaller brushes/attachments (3 in total) housed in the body that are good for smaller areas.
It is almost a pleasure to vacuum with this machine, as much as such a menial everyday task can be, anyway!
My only slight criticism would be that the bag change indicator is rather erratic, but this item is built to last. The brushes are of good quality, and if you have wooden flooring or ceramic tiles then the "parquet" brush head included with this model is excellent, whilst the turbo brush deep cleans frightenly well.
There is a nice long generous cord, 10 metres to be precise.
This cleaner is not bagless as I have indicated, however the bags last a long time and in my opinion this does not effect the suction. This product is built to last for years, in my opinion it probably will we have owned it for over 6 months now and it is good as the day we bought it.
This cleaner is well worth paying a little extra for and really does live up to the hype.
I bought mine from John Lewis in store (it does not seem to be currently on their website) for £180, it came with a 2 year guarantee. You can expect to pay around this mark from an online retailer. Details of all models available and promotions here: http://www.miele.co.uk/products/ProductList.aspx?r ange=Vacuum%20Cleaners - it appears to me that this model may have been updated to the 5281
In ten years or so when I am looking for another vacuum it will definately be another miele.
Summary: An excellent cleaner

- 02/01/09 I have updated some of the aspects you mentionned, thanks - though I did mention noise. I didn't put price as that is very variable and easily google-able, thanks for your feedback |

- 01/01/09 Welcome to Dooyoo. A lot more info is really needed here esp for future buyers. Add more info such as:
Noise factor
Cleaning with smaller tools - are there any supplied?
Weight of the machine - is it too heavy to cart around or lightweight?
Does it take bags or is it bagless? If it takes bags, how big are they and how long do they last?
Filtration aspects
Price
