I did a lot of research before buying this vacuum cleaner. Like many I read the Which guide which rated this make and model very highly and found the only draw back was the length of the power cable being not quite as long as others (I've never found this to be a problem). I also searched around a lot on the internet and the best price I could get was £119.
I'm really pleased I put the time in as its a great vacuum cleaner, it fits in a small cupboard and is ingeniously designed to break down into smaller parts with the long tubes and attachments all reducing in size and clipping into each other for storage. The suction is great and I've yet to need to change the bag and it's been months. It also doesn't get hot even when you do the whole house and there's no dust coming out even at this point after many rounds of vacuuming (and I'm sensitive to this so it was a problem with my old vacuum).
It's got adjustable suction which is brilliant for moving from carpets to rugs and even curtains. It's quite light (much lighter than my old up right) and not a chore to carry up the stairs. One down point is it doesn't sit well on stairs so you have to reach as far as you can up then carry it to the top and reach down but this is possible in my (relatively normal sized) terraced house.
I was also worried about pulling it around on our new wood floor as it scratches really easily but its light and pivots in all directions. The attachments work just as well on the wood floor.
I'd really recommend this vacuum. I was an upright person until now but I've totally changed my mind now I've seen how easy it is to use and what great cleaning power it has.
This Miele the first vacuum cleaner I've chosen and bought myself and I've been suprisingly impressed by it! I purchased it after reading a review in Which and I would really recommend it.
I've had it for over a year now and it performs very well, including on pet hair. We live in a small house with not much storage space and lots of stairs and it's compact enough to fit in one of our kitchen cupboards and is light and small enough to be manageable on the stairs. And though I don't think it's really important, it does look quite nice as well.
The different settings include a 'quiet' setting (which doesn't make a huge difference) and others for rugs, upholstery and curtains which are handy. It does a good job on our carpets and rugs but also on the kitchen and bathroom lino.
The various attachments make it very versatile, and I know now to turn the power to the minimum setting before using it on my boyfriends computer keyboard - it sucked up one of the keys which I then had to retrieve from the bag!
It consistently performs much better than any vacuum I've used before and although it cost more than I initially intended to spend, it's proved to be excellent value for money and if and when it needs replacing I would only consider other Miele models.
