Advantages: Good suction
Disadvantages: Clogs easily, overheats easily when filters dirty.
I've owned this vacuum cleaner for a few months now, so thought I would review it. This was not my first choice for a new vacuum cleaner but as my old one had broken down and I had no money but an Asda card, it was my best option at the time.
Cost
===
This vacuum cleaner costs around £60.
Set Up
=====
It was initially easy to set up. All I needed to do was screw the handle on and add the attachments on the back.
Appearance
========
It seems pretty big and bulky to me. On the front you can see the large dirt cannister and can easily tell if it needs emptying. There is a dial on the bottom part of the vacuum allowing you to switch heights for different surfaces. The ergonomic handle is looped for ease of use and there are various tools stored at the back.
Use
===
Its simple enough to use, just select the setting for the correct floor type and away you go. It is fairly heavy but not so heavy as to cause a problem. There are two lengthening tubes and a crevice tool and couple of brushes which are easy to attach and use.
I have found that it cuts out from overheating if the filters are not clean which is pretty annoying. It does not clean right to the edges of the room so I need to get down and do that with the attachments.
Maintenance
=========
You need to empty the dust cannister regularly. It's easy to remove the front cover and remove the cannister by simply pulling the handle but I have found it fairly tricky to align it all up properly and put it back together again. Having said that, I was struggling with it and my 12 year old niece came along and did it in seconds. The filters are easily removed for cleaning, simply clean in mild detergent and leave to dry.
I have found the long hose is really thin and clogs far too easily and it is a nightmare to unblock as it does not fully detach from the cleaner.
Overall
=====
This is a fairly good vacuum cleaner. It cleans really effectively and deals with pet hairs well. It is sturdy and I like the onboard tools. However, the problems with overheating and clogged hose have been pretty irritating and have made me less happy about owning it. I think I could have probably got a better cleaner for the money I paid for it.
Summary: Its ok but not brilliant

- 18/03/08 VG Review. These arent the best on the market although they are budget priced; I've owned both the bagged and the bagless versions and come to the understanding that its down to their cheap plastic build which causes most of their long term issues. |
