A good vacuum cleaner, with excellent suction. Just have a spare belt - just in case!

I bought this upright hoover approximately three years ago, shortly after we got our cat, as we needed a more powerful hoover for his hair (he's a bit of a fur ball!). We got it through Next , as we had vouchers, and were very pleased with our purchase at the time.

Even now, I still think it is a good upright vacuum cleaner. It has powerful suction, a very long hose (with the extended nozzle, I can get right to the top of the stairs - very handy!) and is easy to push around, if a little heavy.

One fault I have found with this though, is we have had to replace the belt on it several times. When the belt snaps, it causes the rotary brush underneath to stop spinning and basically, you lose practically all suction apart from if you just use the hose. The first time it broke, it took a long time to figure what had gone wrong, but eventually with a bit of help from my Dad, we got it fixed and wahey, we had suction again! We first used the spare belt that came with the vacuum.
However, it only took about 4months for it to snap again, so off we went to get another replacement belt - luckily our local spare-parts shop sells them at £5 for two. This time I was able to fix it myself (admittedly, after a panicked phone-call to my Dad, midway through!) - because if I waited for the husband to fix it, it would still be sat there now! This belt seems to be holding a bit better, but as you can imagine it's a bit annoying, having to replace the belt so frequently.

But it's a small price to pay for a decent vacuum in my opinion. This one is the best I've ever had for suction, and it deals with the cat hair fantastically. I find it quite simple to empty, but after three years, I've had a lot of practice. The container just clips out from the front.

There is a range of settings, to suit short-haired carpets through to the thickest ones - ours is a reasonably short haired carpet and it works well on it. It even hoovers our rug very well too.

Overall I think this is a good vacuum, and the belt problem we've encountered may be limited to just ours - my parents have the exact same vacuum and have had no problems with it. I would recommend it, just maybe keep a spare belt in the cupboard!

I have recently bought this machine and I'm not disappointed, very powerful, does a really good job, its not the easiest vacuum to empty and it doesn't have a very big dust collector but overall its well worth the money.
