Advantages: good for floors, mattresses, pet bedding

Disadvantages: All that steam - feel like I've had a facial sauna

I bought this steam-cleaner last year from Ebay after hours of watching TV shopping channels extoling the virtues of similar gadgets. I don't use the steam cleaner on a regular basis but it came out again for the spring cleaning and have to admit it is great for floors. It's easily moveable, just like a little cylinder cleaner. The different attachments snap on and off easily. It is easy to fill (I boil the water first in the kettle as this saves time on heating it to steam tempterature) BUT if you use all the steam the machine needs to cool down completely before you can safely remove the stopper and refill. You can never have enough cloths for it - I bought some cheap hand towels as replacements.

As I've already mentioned it cleans floors efficiently - laminate, cushionfloor etc. Great for carpets, and pet beds.

Where I must disagree with other reviewers is about the efficiency of oven cleaning - yes the steam nozzle does blast off some grease (not, in my case the hard, burnt on bits on glass doors) BUT - it is impossible to see what on earth you are doing as there is steam everywhere, so it's only possible to do the work in very short blasts and then wait until the steam clears before starting again. Really frustrating. Also, in the ads everything was just magically blasted away. BEWARE! If you're using a steam-cleaner to blast away dirt, the dirt is blasted elsewhere - in my case directly onto the tiles behind the cooker which then in turn had to be cleaned. It is necessary to take care and keep a cloth behind the nozzle. Also to remember when blasting metal items that they'll become extremely hot with the steam.

I'm writing this after having spent a morning using the cleaner. I do find it useful, but I'm glad I bought it through ebay and not at full price.

Summary: Good quality steam-cleaner if you MUST have one, but do you really need it?
