Advantages: powerful vacuum cleaner
Disadvantages: heavy to lift & bulky to store
my mate Henry has been in our home for about six years and has never caused us any problems.
This vacuum cleaner is unmistakeable because he has eyes and and a big smile and is a red and black - hard to lose!
It weighs about 6.6kg which may not suit everyone - I have a bad back and sometimes have to ask one of the family to take it up/downstairs for me.
It cost around £95 & included the main machine, tools (which I've never used) and a good manual.
The machine itself is bulky as it has a thick non-retractable hose so it is awkward to carry up & downstairs.
However, the advantages of this machine, in my opinion, far outweigh the disadvantages.
advantages
~
suction - this is the most important to me - industrial power plus a switch for lower suction if necessary
~
long cord - approx 10 metres so you don't have to unplug & re-plug all the time
~
easy to change bags - they are so strong I can easily re- use them several times.
There's a knack to changing them but once fathomed - easy-peasy
Henry will start to 'whistle' if the bag is not fitted correctly
floor head - just by moving a clearly-marked sign you can change from one that does carpets to one that does laminate floors & tiles.
I must admit I interchange these - on some of the carpets in our house the 'floor' setting does the job even better.
~
disadvantages
~
may not suit small houses/ flats or houses with small rooms as it is a bulky machine & the brush head is around 12" so may be awkward to vacuum if there is a lot of furniture.
~
not the quietest machine
~
non- automatic retractable lead
~
bulky to store when not in use
opinion
~
I love this vacuum despite the disadvantages & would recommend it to anyone like me who has heavy traffic in their home

- 30/07/08 In 2004 Numatic launched a Henry with a hi/lo power switch so you may be out by a couple of years. As a part time cleaner I've used a couple of Henrys and adore the fact that he's easy to get around with and agree with much of the points in your review. However how do you re-use the bags? The paper ones aren't reusable and Henry does have a unique way of retracting the cable even if its not automatic.
Als o is it easy to put together? |
