We have hard floors and a dog, so it can get very muddy in the house when it rains. We used to just use a mop and bucket, but one day we saw one of these going very cheap on ebay so decided to take the plunge. It has definitely been worth every penny, as it has halved the cleaning time.
You can wait a long time for it to heat up, so i would advise plugging it in about quarter of an hour before you use it. If you use boiling water straight from the kettle it will take a lot shorter, but there will usually be left over water from last time you used it.
My one complaint is that there's no water gauge, which means you have to guess how much water is in the machine (you can't see it otherwise)
It has lasted us about a year and a half so far, with quite heavy use.
