Advantages: Effective, Affordable, Easy to Use
Disadvantages: Very Noisy
We got this vacuum cleaner just recently to try to tackle the pet hair problem our cats create. It got four and a half stars on average on the Argos website from customers who'd bought it, and as it only cost £65 I thought it must be a pretty good buy. It was getting rated up with the Dysons, but for a third of the price.
Getting this vacuum assembled was really easy. I just had to unscrew a single screw near the top of the vacuum, then slide the handle into place, and re-fix the screw to keep it together. That was it, I was ready to roll. The attachments that came with it, two special heads and an extension tube nozzle, had little slots down the side of the vacuum to sit in.
To operate this, I just had to click a little pedal at the base of the vacuum to tilt the base, then press a pedal beside that to turn it on. That was it, I was ready to vacuum within ten minutes of getting it out of the box.
I noticed immediately that this vacuum made a difference to our pet hair problem. Our old vacuum was 1800w, only 200w less than this vacuum boasts. So there's more to what this does to pick up the pet hair than just relying on power alone. The way the brushes on the base unit work obviously do a little something extra to get those pesky hairs up.
The pipe comes off easily from the main unit for cleaning in crevices and along the skirting boards. You can add the little shaped nozzle tools if you want, though I actually found I didn't need to. There was sufficient power to pick all the dust up from around the edges by just whizzing the open tube end around.
There is a downside to this though, as with all good things in life. This is possibly the noisiest vacuum cleaner I have ever heard! I was really shocked that a vacuum could make such loud, rattling noises at first. But then after seeing how clean my carpets were, and that the pet hair had all been picked up, I decided it didn't matter that this makes a raucous during use. It's something worth considering if you're thinking about this though - it really is that loud.
