We have had our VAX now for about 2 years and although it is a bit bulky to put away and takes up more space that previous hoovers that we have had, it does a great job at cleaning your carpets and upholstery. I have two children and a black cat which cream carpets throughout the landing and hallways, which is not a good mix. Despite this, the vax has managed to ward off any major stains although it has needed some help. It has a long enough hose for reaching up high. This Vax was abosolutely brilliant for our house before we had a baby and got a dog! The Vax itself was very easy to put together and to use, and easy to move around and light enough to carry up the stairs (unless full of water!). I found it very handy to hoover the stairs with, as the pipe does stretch a fair way. It was very easy to change the bag, and filters, and they are also cheap enough to replace. When in shampooing mode, it was very easy to set up, the maximum fill level is marked on the water holder.
