Advantages: Washes carpets well, vacuums well
Disadvantages: takes ages to clean up after using wet mode
The Vax Rapide XL V-027 wet and dry vacuum cleaner has a 750 watt motor and holds 0.98 of a gallon of water in it wet mode.
It comes with just under thirty feet of cord which makes it ample for most homes. You can use it downstairs without having to unplug it and change to another socket, and then do the same upstairs.
It features a rotating brush which is very effective in dry cleaning mode. This machine actually has two motors. One operates the cleaning bar and lifts out dirt and the powerful vacuum allows carpets to dry quickly.
This machine does what it says it does, but I was not impressed with it as a carpet cleaner in the wet mode. It was fiddly and awkward to clean up afterwards and the whole machine is quite heavy to carry around.
It took me longer to clean the thing up than it did to actually wash the carpets.
This machine comes complete with tools and at around £139 it is reasonable value. VAX AAA cleaning solution is recommended for this machine and I must admit that I found this effective and it had a pleasant fragrance.
This is a good all purpose carpet cleaner and washer and regular use of a machine like this helps to prolong the life of your carpets, brightens the colours, and removes pollen and dust which may remain deep in the fibres of your carpets.
I wouldn't buy this particular machine again as I have seen how much more efficient a dedicated carpet washer is. It seems that the VAX Rapide Carpet Washer a friend owns, cost around £89 and is a better buy. You have to buy a separate vacuum cleaner but the two seem to work better as individual appliances.
Summary: Better to buy seperate units than this two in one machine

- 02/06/07 Sorry but I found this review vague. You say that in wet mode it takes ages to clean up afterwards but what does this mean? And isnt it heavy anyway if it used generally? If it has two functions, what are they exactly? A driven brush will need suction to lift the dirt, won't it? So if it can vacuum up dry dirt before washing you should state this. Also why no details on the hose at the back? Are there any tools that you can use with this hose? Can the hose stretch up to stairs? It would be best to add in your own experience rather than using the spec which Dooyoo apply here before your review. Also, do you have to heat the water first before putting it into the Cax or does it have a built in water heater? If you update your review let me know. I have a Rapide washer but it isnt all plain sailing and it just be the one your friend has outlined in your review. |
