I left everything when I moved away from the ex - including the vacuum. My faithful old Vax, had it for a fair few years so I thought time was right for pastures new in both cases. Basically, I like VAX anyway because they aren't as expensive as something like a dyson but they work just as well.
Bought mine in Morrisons, Had seen it previously, but wanted to research it a bit first - also I wanted to see if I could get a better deal anywhere else too.
Nice too look at, mine is silver and lilac, very nice.
Taking it out of the box, it looked a bit scary. You have to plug an electrical looking piece into the handle, that was easy enough so after everything was connected up, and the handle fixed on, reading the instructions it said you could alter the height of the handle, marvellous, I do find that a problem sometimes.
Handle adjusted, so time to give it a whirl.
Button is on top of the handle so nice and easy to get to. You can hear the power in the 1300 watt motor. And it sounds solid. Which puts my mind at rest. I like things that sound as they look.
It is very easy to manoeuvre as it has swivel wheels on the back - no need for your dyson ball business!. Heavy enough that you can't swing it around the room but not too heavy that it's hard to push.
Suction is very good, I wasn't actually expecting it to be as good as it is - sounds strange I know. The one I have says that it's perfect for homes with pets. Well I have 3 children and 2 of those are girls with long hair and they're always brushing it and strands get everywhere.
I know that from previous experience that hair clogs around the rollers so its best to check the rollers every now and then so you can get rid of any unwanted hairballs, as this crates a lot of friction and more often than not, the belt on the vacuum wears and snaps very easily or worst case scenario, burns out the motor.
I haven't had to change the belt on this yet, but I have checkout out how easy it is to do so. I only wish my last one was this easy. There is a small slot on the front of the base of the vacuum (along with the dials to change vacuuming height etc), that just simply says "EASY BELT ACCESS".
Oh marvellous, none of this tipping the vacuum upside down, taking out 7 or 8 screws to remove the base plate, blah blah.
Fantastic, no doubt, I will update this when I really do have to change the belt, just to tell everyone how easy it is - hopefully.
But as I was saying, the suction is really rather good. Spilled glitter on the floor (not the best thing as most parents will know) sometimes a right PIG to get off the floor, well for this it was no problem and my carpet has one of those flipping awful twisted piles. Grrrrr. Glitter gone in a couple of goes over.
Another good thing is that it seems I can use the vacuum on bare tile floor (kitchen and bathroom) and normal carpet everywhere else in the house. All that is required is a quick turn of a dial on the base plate.
It's bagless and very easy to empty and put back again.
It has a stair hose that has a handle, several on board tools that come as standard and quite a long lead.
I love Vax, and they just seem to get better.
